That's like me going out there and being a dietitian. Some people just shouldn't be in certain fields. When your doctor tells you that you have Herpes, high fives you and says "welcome to the club!" there's something off.

1st up BLAA go get your senior first aid. Then you'll need to do occupational first aid (which I have) this takes 5 days. After that you can go on to get industrial emergency response (formerly industrial paramedic) but it's not an easy course to pass I've seen people far smarter than me fuck it up.

I was the an emergency response team captain at my last mine site with my OFA as my first aid qual and filled in as medic or assisted the site medics if they needed it and found the OFA good enough for most things I came across.

A few other things you may want to look at is getting OCBA, structural fire fighting, hazchem, confined space rescue & rope rescue qualifications if you want to go play power rangers on your rig.

I was trained by St John for the OFA and Riklan for everything else.

BTW I'm not sure what goes on with offshore rigs but I hope it helps.

I had a blast doing my vehicle extrication / rope rescue / confined space rescue training ... thought they were all conducted on site at Rio at the time ... can't recall if we had a mob come in and do the training ... it was a while back now.
