View Full Version : will these rims fit these brakes?
i'm just about to buy a set of xd9 work wheels and in the not to distance future i want to put on a big brake kit (project mu 4pot). i was just wondering, is there a way to make sure that i get the right offset so that the brakes fit. i don't want to buy new rims to then have to change them again once i get the brakes.
the front rim specs im considering are 9.00" +38 offset

You can print templates for most brake kits. I'm not sure pmu do the templates but the other brands do which will give you a pretty good idea how much room your going to have.
Most wheel/brake combinations have been tried so post more details (wheel and brake dia would be a good start) and I'm sure someone will be able to help.
yeah, i've had a search for templates, no luck!
brake dimensions:
length : 282.8mm / width : 156.25mm / height : 72.3mm
front rim dimensions:
9.00" / offset: +38

width and offset can be misleading due to spoke design
Usually depends on the design of the wheel. Since the xd9 is more of a dish wheel, after a certain point, the offsets just increase the dish it has. Look on the works site for measurements.
With the multipiece wheels, they rely on the type of "face" or backing rather than the offsets.

You able to link to a technical drawing of the calipers?
I think the offset of the caliper mounts/discs used may also play a part in the rims fitting or not.

i've had a good search around on the interwebs to look for someone running a similar wheel/brake combo without much success. i guess my last stop would be going in and asking at a brake shop

17 or 18" wheels? Rotor diameter? What car?
Stop tech have pretty good templates (they are large calipers), as do AP. If they fit you can be pretty sure the slim pmu calipers will. There are a few shops in Perth stocking work wheels that I'm sure would be happy to help.
2minutes googling:

18x9 +30 XD9's clear Brembo 4-Pot Calipers off of the Mitsubishi Evo V+
18x9 +38 XD9's clear R34 GT-R Brembo Calipers but NOT the Mitsubishi items.
Not exactly the info that you are chasing but that should help.
sorry, it's an r32 gts-t. the wheels are 17".
