Found out today I have a OS Giken twinplate in the 33, I have never had a twinplate clutch before so Im unsure what to expect in the way it feels to a normal clutch

this is what I am experiencing and hopefully someone here can tell me if its normal or not

The friction point in the pedal is very low to the floor, as you begin to raise it up the car just lerches forward, clutch feels more like it just has an on and off function, you're either engaged or disengaged, doesnt feel like there is much take up point there.

It also feels like its not getting full travel, if you're in spirited mode and you start smashing through the gears you need to be 100% sure you have the pedal right down to the floor before you make the change otherwise you will get a crunch, also can feel a bit tight when going into gear, so you tend to make your gear changes a bit slower. Obviously the best way to drive is to make sure you have your foot to the floor before you make a change to the next gear, however with every other car I have driven you dont need to be so watchful on where you have your clutch pedal.

It just doesnt feel right to me, however it could just be normal. Its a push type so it doesnt need the os giken clutch travel kit. Pivot ball is fine as is the fork, there is also no air in the system.

Sounds like a twin plate however you could always adjust the bite point on the pedal?

adjust via threaded rod section that connects to master cylinder?

Good idea! Seeing it's had a manual conversion it may not of been set up correctly

I have a twin plate and what you have described is pretty much what I have ;)

The pedal should not be that low to the floor. Make sure you adjust the pedal and rod correctly or it could kill the clutch rather quickly. Maybe give it a bleed at the same time.

As said already, everything but the 'bite' so close to the stop sounds normal.

Is it noisy as fuck when you got the clutch in? ORC709 I have sounds like it has milo tins full of coins attached.

Drive with a tripe plate and you'll know the meaning of noise !

Agreed with the others having been converted to manual, hasnt been setup correctly.

The relatively new OS twin that came in my 33 was boned when it got off the boat for that reason.
