Hai guys,

For those of you who have had liquid limestone driveways, just curious to see how many have chosen to go with the galvanised mesh.

I have had a few quotes and its about 50/50, some say get the mesh, others say not needed.

Driveway will only see cars and bikes, no boats or caravans.

Also any suggestions on what I should be looking act $$ wise, been quoted between 55-85 sq m for pour, seal and cut.

Thanks.

IMO probably better to fork out a bit mOre for the extra strength, sell house in 10 years - driveway is still in as new condition, no breaks etc.

It is not just about the mesh. It depends what thickness you put it is at and what strength concrete you use.

Some dodgy operators will try and get away with 80mm and 20mpa. For a driveway I would use a minimum of 100mm and 25mpa.

I did not use mesh on my driveway because it will only be there for 5 years but I went with 32mpa. Funnily enough no cracks except on the control joints.

The other thing to remember with Liquid Limestone is that it is porous so make sure you put some black plastic underneath. It will stop moisture from coming up from the bottom and discolouring it.

At the end of the day mesh is cheap and if you are going to be have it there for a long time my vote is put it in.

Thanks for the info Brendon.

Have been told paths will be 80 and driveway 100.

Apparently mix comes from Holcim? and is rated at 15-18mpa ?

15-18mpa is not strong enought imo, although you could probably get away with it if you use mesh. I would be going for 20-25 at a minimum with mesh, above 25 you should be ok without mesh @ 100mm thick. 80 will be fine for paths.
