Hypothetically, one could just borrow some number plates.

OP, any chance of a tuning day? (Small track)

thommo
18-05-2011, 10:00 PM
Ill get them to email through a whole list of all their events and pricing. Using there track would be pretty good. im sure others have done this already so speak up if you have info !

Sweet. I've participated in it once and its just sooooo much better than just the skidpan... Don't know whats involved in booking it etc though. (Sorry to spam thread, delete if necessary)

i think the v8 supercars run all day saturday so getting the long track would be a no go. worth a try but dont get your hopes up

Wet weather + 400 rwhp = no fun

Tocchi
16-06-2011, 12:47 PM
im praying for wet.

dry weather + R-comps on FG + skidpan = expensive skids :(

thommo
16-06-2011, 12:50 PM
the way its been going this week the rain clears by the arvo so we should have sunshine and a damp track.

dont run the R comps then :P

Tocchi
16-06-2011, 12:56 PM
it's R-comps or slicks ... that's all i have left. haha

adrenalin

Tocchi
16-06-2011, 12:57 PM
ive got to drive there and cbf changing rims.

otherwise would of run the 285 slicks, they light up great

thommo
16-06-2011, 12:59 PM
id lend you my stockies but they dont fit your brakes

Tocchi
16-06-2011, 01:03 PM
i will ATTEMPT to go for complete grip .... all i do at AHG and Midvale is skids haha

Fukushima
16-06-2011, 01:10 PM
Complete grip until they tell me "you're not like the usual antilag guys, you can drive"

Then its time to chicken wing.

cactus
16-06-2011, 01:14 PM
Either way I will be running some shitty 14" GTS wheels with 195 tyres ... so its going to be a fun day for me. Do they let you off doing bulk skids?

lowney
16-06-2011, 01:17 PM
when we did ours we were linking corners and they started getting shitty but they got over it eventually once one guy got kicked off

Tocchi
16-06-2011, 01:20 PM
i got told off only once, a few months ago, i think Joe, Marc, Owain, Adz and a couple of others can vouch that they are pretty lenient... to a degree.

haha 195s with your power will be a laugh.

i wouldnt say theyre overly keen on skids

you only get busted if you spin out or go onto grass. Part from that your fine

17-06-2011, 08:11 AM
fark almost on the verge of bailing on this - put my back out the other day, farking painful just getting in the bloody car let alone throwing it around :(

Will be taking it easy tomorrow, also because like Matt i have a tyre dilemma.... sfa tread on teh rears and they have to last for the hill climb on sunday!

Tocchi
17-06-2011, 08:21 AM
^ ouch :( if it makes you feel better, i had my legs tunneled out of me last night at basketball while i was spinning, landed pretty hard on my back from a metre in the air... i have a corked ass cheek as a result and it hurts to change gear. my butt is multicultural, one side white, the other brown. hahah :p

think of the taking it easy as scuffing the tyres in preparation for the event the next day :)

dtcng
17-06-2011, 08:23 AM
any idea who the instructors on the day will be?

17-06-2011, 02:51 PM
Yeh, hopefully it's wet enough to be interesting without being impossible to go fast. (Yay awd)

But I had a good time in the dry a couple of weeks ago, so won't be worried about getting silly this time.

thommo
17-06-2011, 03:03 PM

stumps.
17-06-2011, 03:14 PM

Jizz-Lebrity
17-06-2011, 05:41 PM
I've got brand new 275/30 Yokohama's on the rear, so am/was hoping for a reasonable amount of grip :(

Michael - cheers for organising!

I would've enjoyed it a lot more in the dry, with functioning ABS sensors and less under-steer/lock-up, but it was a good experience nonetheless. A great opportunity to see how well my car doesn't handle in the wet while being a lead foot.

I figured the boot was a little harsh for just throttle-steering out of an inadvertent 180 (a common unintentional maneuver on the wet pan) but at least it was towards the end of the session, no harm done. I was pretty happy being allowed to run without a helmet, that made up for it :)

Some great driving by all though! Looking forward to skidpan V2.
