Chasing a genuine copy of Windows 7 64 bit, best unused so the key is still good.

After Home Premium as a minimum.

Let me know what you've got

If you have a uni/tafe email you can use get this

http://www.microsoft.com/australia/office/startinguni/

Win 7 Pro UPGRADE link, then get the 64bit version and then follow this guide - http://tech-buzz.net/2009/10/25/use-windows-7-upgrade-disc-to-perform-full-install-and-save-80/

:) I can confirm it works flawlessly.

if you are not a uni/tafe student your best to just go to austin computers and get a OEM version :)

32 bit key will also work for 64 bit, if you find one of those instead then download the right OS image of MS's server (or borrow an install disc of a mate)... I did this to install from a usb as the computer I setup had no cd/dvd drive.

MSY has the OEM version @ $99, so a bit cheaper than austin ($109).

Good to know!!

And thanks for the info also guys, much appreciated. Still keen if anyone has a key they want to let go a bit cheaper! Can probably sort out a disc from someone local (in Townsville) if i need to.

What's the deal with the OEM versions? Different at all? First I've seen of this..

OEM is the same license as 'retail', it just comes as media and key and technically can only be sold with hardware.

Most places will sell you a shitty old piece of memory or something to get around that technicality.

If you buy one of eBay (I've done this plenty of times) be wary of Chinese/Hong Kong sellers as fake software has become pretty convincingly looking over the years.

Thanks for the help :) picked myself a copy of Home Premium x64 today at a local shop for $140, happy enough with that for a quick solution on a sunday afternoon.
