Hi Guys,

I am looking for some r-comps for my VE.
I mainly participate in short sprint type events or No limits type events.

Are the Falken RT-615 an R-comp tyre?

Are they any good?

Cheers

No Rt-615 is not an R-comp. Its a softer compound regular road tyre. Suitable for Mixed Road and Occasional track use.

R-comps are something like Bridgestone RE55S or Advan A050...

Typically the tread wear rating of an R-comp is 50 or under.

High performance Street semi slick are usually around 150-200.

Performace All season road tyres are around 250-300

What kind of car do you have and what kind of racing/events do you want to get into?

What kind of car do you have and what kind of racing/events do you want to get into?

Did you not read the first post?
VE, sprints style events.

AD048 Will do you good.
considering the wieght of the car, the tyres would get more worked out then lighter cars.

tirerack is the cheapest for it.

RT615 is not semi even its advert as is.
its just a good end streets like wise, AD08, 595RSR, Adrenaline, Ku36

If you are willing to spent more money go for RE55, R888, A050

how much power you putting down?
are you experienced or beginner(ish)?
are you looking to do a heap of laps at a track night, or just enough to get used to the car?
what kind of suspension do you have in the VE?

im asking these questions as each one will (kind of) help work out what tyre will suit you, ie: harder or softer compound and such

Many people purchase tyres using tirerack? If so, what is service/delivery etc. like (sorry to hi-jack).

Power wise it has around 450hp at the rears

experience is not quite beginner but not overly experienced either... if that helps????

aiming at doing a fair amount of laps... last day i did was wrx owners club day and i think overall the car must have done at least 50 or so laps over the day... all in 5 or 6 lap increments...

Suspension has just been tweaked... ie DMS 40mm coilovers front with adjustable caster rod bushes set at max castor, rears are bilstein height adjustable shocks with dobinson springs and whiteline rear swaybar set at Max stiffness as set up by Kerry Wade.

I did the no limits night not too long ago and basically git hooked, i have since doent he wrx owners club day and booked on the collie track day with the perth -wrx boys...

The commodore car clubs just don't do too many events like this and when they do i am usually away at work... hahaha

too easy, you probably want a slightly harder compound due to the track time.
given your power and suspension, you can dial in a bit more camber, and those tyres will be grippy with some warming up -- first warm up lap should do it in such a heavy car.

the weight of the car is a big help to heating up the tyres, my slicks got warm on the warm up lap around Barbs, due to the car.
of course on the flipside of the coin, the weight will kill the tyres sooner too
