Made by Bell but not as high quality for a more budget option. Still a very good helmet just a little heavier than the Bells. Not really noticeable when you're wearing it. Comes with clear visor tear offs.

$150

Michael.

Sorry guys its a Medium.
it is Snell approved. cant find anywhere that says AS/NZ1698 on it.
Previous owner raced Sprintcars so if it was approved for that id say it complies with the the above.

If it isn't marked with the above standard(s), it isn't compliant. Snell approval doesn't necessarily mean it's AS/NZ1698 compliant unfortunately.
Cheers for the reply though.

What is the helmet needed for? Generally Snell is a higher standard than AS/NZ1698. The only time that a helmet NEEDS to be AS/NZ1698 is for when riding a motorbike on the public road.

Drags. If it doesn't have the AS/NZ1698 markings they wont let you use it. Seen many helmets that surpass their regs get knocked back in scrutineering.

Since Andra are so crap, I cannot find their current rule book easily online but I did find a tech doc dated a few years back indicating AS1698 will no longer be accepted and AS/NZ1698 would be accepted as a minimum. Similar thing for open face helmets. It also states that various Snell, BS and SFI standards are accepted with AS/NZ1698 as a minimum.

I find it absolutely unbelievable that the only standard accepted is AS/NZ1698. I can't think of any motorsport (not motorcycle!!!) helmets made by Bell, Arai, Stilo, Simpson, OMP, Sparco etc that state only AS/NZ1698 as they are made for far bigger international markets. And I'd love to see international drivers coming to Australia to race with their gear getting turned away because their helmet is not AS/NZ1698.

FYI: I found that doc referenced above at http://www.docstoc.com/docs/18159867/TECHNICAL-BULLETIN

If anyone has a Andra rule book can they reference page 158?

My Helmet has SNELL SA2000, doesn't have AS/NZ and they have let me go through everytime with no issues.

SNELL SA2000, SA2005, SFI 31.2A (US) are allowed at the drags

I agree that the ANDRA rules are stupid, not only the helmet one either.
I have an ANDRA Handbook at home, will check page 158 tonight.

How fast is your car?
I don't want to rock up down there & be told to go home because the scrutineer can't find an AS/NZ1698 marking on the helmet is all. As i said above, have seen it happen before with $1200+ helmets & had to laugh.

Rules are rules i spose no matter how shithouse they are.....
All i know this helmet is pretty much fine for any other motorsport. Karting, Track days, Circuit racing, Motorkhana etc.
