I showed up to riverton shopping centre and saw about 50 rednecks driving VR commodores with southern cross stickers, chromies, stereos blasting and was ready to turn around and go home, finally figured out it wasn't antilag but some other club. Made it to the second meet point and then it started raining so I bailed. Semi slicks and rain don't mix. Thanks for the map though :)
Was a nice relaxed until we got on back roads where there was plenty of entertainment :) bailed at armadale as it started to rain a bit heavier.
Saw a VT commo backed into the wall at Tonkin on ramp from Armadale. Single pegger strikes again haha. Then at entrance to Gosnells off Tonkin like 2km away, about 6 cop cars, two towies, road blocked off, ambo's and firefighters. Must have been a serious crash.

i topped up with another 30'ish litres and my car went to shit halfway to the 2nd meet point.
same tune for the past 2 weeks, was perfectly fine before filling up.
I'll be draining the tank & checking plugs tomorrow and get samples tested for water during the week.

yer that vl tones is talking about was mine, no issues with over heating or leaning out b4, i even put a new thermo on for the cruise, got from canningvale to rivo perfectly fine, dropped 40ltrs of 98 in it and started to lean out hardddddddddd and over heat to the max, that was with the nice cold weather, a lil rain + the thermo cranked on all the time..
fkn bull shit!!!! if any damage to my motor, rivo bp will get a shock wen i rock up with a bill for 10k!!!!

you will probably get more of a shock when they tell you to fuck off. If you think it was a problem with fuel lodge the complaint with BP corporate. Should have been done this already btw. Then follow the process....Good luck!

Easy tiger its not the attendants fault this is becoming a regular occurence that needs proper regulation or a type of litmus test you can use on the spot for irregularities in the fuel.
mitchy
07-08-2011, 10:25 AM
regular occurrence?
not one person that has complained recently has proved that BP's fuel is anything different to what they offer it up as. it's all rumours and bandwagons at the moment.

Last nights dramas have swayed my vote of confidence. 2 cars at the same servo filling up within minutes of each other both having dramas. That's a massive coincidence if you ask me.
Tre-Cool
07-08-2011, 10:34 AM
so started the car up this morning. car was idling for about 1 minute with the correct afr for a cold start i.e low to mid 13afr's. then it starts to stumble and get a rought idle. while it was doing this i watched the afr go from 13.3 upto 15, then down, then upto 17 afr, then it went to 25:1 and was struggling hard.
took about a litre of fuel out of the fuel rail, can notice a distinct layer on top of the fuel in the container but it could be surface tension.
fuel colour has a very light yellow to it, almost clear like.
thinking either water or diesel contamination.
leb vlt which nossle did you use to fill up? i used the one closest to the entry, but obviously they all use the same tank.
mitchy
07-08-2011, 10:35 AM

When I say regular at least 6 cars in the last 3 weeks have the same problem or blown an engine from BP98 Id say that is fairly regular
And when my mates gtst33 filled his tank at Riverton before heading out and had dramas with pinging and the AFM fouled to the point of swapping my Z32 with his to see if that was the case and it was Id say theres cause for comment.
Speculation and bandwagons are one thing but irregularities in fuel for cars like ours that are tuned and require certain octane ratings is more that a bit funny

not a problem. His only problem is receipt wasnt kept. but still worth the call to back your story. They have drained the tank and same story, very pale yellow with a visible layer on top.
Filled up on pump 2 at that servo and had no problems at all although I did still have half a tank of 98 in it from Morley BP.

Macca
07-08-2011, 11:10 AM
Should not have drained fuel from tank, now it is very hard to prove anything (unless they find the same fault at the servo, which if it is the cause then it is a no brainer) but now they can play the "you messed with the evidence" card.

Last week I put premium in from woolies petrol and car ran like utter shit, kept leaning out and retarding. put 98 in yesterday from myaree bp and fixed the issue instantly. Something fishy going on, seeing I'm running factory boost and tune I wouldn't of expected that much of a diff, I've used premium 96 before with no issue, just happened to be a crap tank of fuel.

The Shell/coles servo I used to work at we had to test at the start of every shift (every 8-10 hours) but it is purely a test for water.
The past is just water finding paste and as water is heavier than fuel you smear some onto a pole and "dip" the bottom of the tank and see if it changes colour.
In the three years I worked there I never once found water or even heard of anyone finding water at another site.
Tanker driver may have contaminated fuel somehow?
