I jusr picked up a detroit locker for my niva and as i understand its a soft locker that engages automaticly. just wondering though as its out of a diff with dofferent ratio will it be able to be installed in mine?

Has anyone had an experience with these? The guy said you can definatly feel it engage and dissengage when your on the road etc but he said it 100% locks offroad. is there normally a bit of lag before it engages offroad?

Can these be rebuilt by anyone in perth?

I have one in my Calais, you know when it engages and disengages on the road thats for sure. Better than Holdens poxy LSD, draws less attention than a spool as well. Fitment and offroad applications i wouldnt know sorry. They are very good though.

it works similar to a ratchet it lets the axle spin faster than the driveshaft but not slower, so if you lift a wheel, the other wheels grabs like its no ones business

it replaces the centre not the R&P so diff ratios no worries, i had mine built by WA diff centre but anyone can do it

They are always locked, unless the traction overcomes the gear, then it unlocks... they should be called un-lockers.

If its a soft locker then its operation will be very quiet...

There is no 'grabs like its no ones business', if it is doing that then its not working correctly!

Being a Niva it will probably act like a spool, you don't have much weight so you will scuff instead of click around corners.

Is a Niva fulltime 4wd? if not put the LSD in the rear and the locker in the front
