Driving Standards

You will inevitably be punted during the evening (from accidents or lag) but 'revenge' punts just breed more shit driving.
Keep it clean. Even if you think you've been hard done by. Keep it clean.

> Give each other racing room. No other pushing or ramming other cars off the tarmac.
> If you accidentally push or hit a competitor off the track, slow and let them re-pass you to address the situation (apologising via your headset will also help).
> If you deliberately push or hit a competitor off the track, you won't be invited back.

For how to join and connection troubleshooting CLICK HERE (http://www.antilag.com/forums/showpost.php?p=818220&postcount=2).

See you all Thursday.

Anyone done times on Spa yet?

After a few laps I have it down to a 2:06.117, but I think there's probably a couple more seconds in it. Maybe a 2:04 possible?

25-10-2011, 07:25 PM
Spent a bit of time trying to tune my car when i got home from work, got it down to a 1:05.253 with no penalties. Got a couple of 1:02's taking a straighter line through eu reuge but they didn't count. Still handles like a piece of shit and I'm yet to try online lol. Definitely feels like there is more there but would need a perfect car setup to find it I think.

Busy trying to get my Nat type to 2 now as that's prob why I was Glitching last week.

I'm a third through the Suzuka 1000 with the corvette RM, only bought it and modded it for the race. It's annoying as fark haha, doesn't turn in much. I've tried a few tunes on it. Definitely one of those cars that will have a few seconds extra in it by nailing the tune. Although you can get more than 8 laps out of a set of tyres at Suzuka, the key will be nursing them as the Corvette will eat a set in a few skids if you let it haha.

Ran a 2:02.86 in my online lounge.

Set downforce to max on this car. You'll have to adjust your power limiter to get the car under 670pp but it's worth it.

BTW, is their anybody on this forum with the PSN ID: i_MdEr-KbEr

Brockas

Set downforce to max on this car.
Even for Spa??

I had minimal rear downforce as I would have thought the long straights would require as little downforce as possible!

Tre-Cool
26-10-2011, 08:36 AM
i was playing around with it last night and yeah, definetly needs more downforce on the front. i left the rear alone and just having the front up increased front end grip but made the rear more slippery.

will put both to max tonight.

Yeah it doesn't make much difference, I was still getting the same top speed down the longest straight with aero maxed out, whether that's because you can carry more speed through eu reuge or Mr Gran Turismo got his physics slightly wrong, I don't know.

Sciflyer
26-10-2011, 10:24 AM
yep there is sfa drag penalty for running a lot of wing so generally use as much as you can while keeping the car balanced (im assuming they havnt changed the physics with the new patch)

on any car with aero i always run max at the front then balance it out with as much rear wing as needed

MGR
26-10-2011, 11:52 AM
The problem with adding massive rear wing to the back of road cars (like we usually race) is the extra downforce can cause the balance to turn too shit. The race mod cars however have adjustable aero both front and back so you can ramp both up and keep the balance. More downforce usually = better lap times, expecially with quick cars.

But in a race situation that can all change. If the following car runs less wing they can still keep pace with the leading car using the slipstream effect. With the right timing you can cruise past the leading car on the last straight section of the last lap (and block at the last tight corner if necessary).

First car I actually own before the night of racing!

Its a good little jigger, but will blow tyres off if you are messy.

Tre-Cool
26-10-2011, 12:14 PM
would be good if you could tune the way power was delivered rather than just drop the hp down in the top end.

fully modded the c6 is making something 846hp so coming out of corners is harder on the controller to modulate the throttle.

TJ
26-10-2011, 12:16 PM
Kinda true for alot of cars IRL - drop a few psi, still got the same lag, but less power at the end.

N/A stuff I guess you could change cam profiles etc but thats almost a game within itself.

millzy_88
26-10-2011, 12:39 PM
That's a good point, might try the mid size turbo when I get home.

I think blower is the only option for the Corvette RM? And that in itself is a problem, linear power from idle with a built donk too, it is very tyre hungry.

Full aero front and back will be hungry on the tyres, if any of these tracks lap at much over 2 minutes I think there will be some pit stops or slippery final laps, which makes it interesting. For those playing at home (everyone) I had more success using the soft tyre and making it last longer, as the additional grip > tyre longevity of a hard tyre. It just blows the hard tyre at will, in 4th, without trying.

i'd change it by dropping out all the timing till 80~100% throttle. when you actually want all the power.

Anyone tried it without the added huffer to see if it has moar grips?

millzy_88
26-10-2011, 04:06 PM
Yeah I did, feels much better grip wise exiting corners and uses less tires but the times aren't as quick, although I managed a 2:05 which is only a second off my current best with the supercharger. Could be an interesting no stop strategy perhaps. I'm considering it lol

Can you mod a car in online racing without having the coin in your normal game account, or do i need to buy a corvette & mod it before tomorrow night to bring into the online game?

You need to buy it, and the race mods need to be done out of the online system. just get someone to buy another vette, RM it with mods and send it to you, plenty of people should have way too much cash in this game by now.

millzy_88
26-10-2011, 04:19 PM
Well I just managed to run a best of 2:02.590 with the supercharger but it is very inconsistent cos it's too twitchy, very tempting to run without the charger for tire longevity and consistent grip.

26-10-2011, 04:20 PM
Anyone want to gift me a vette with sufficient mods to race tomorrow night? PSN is TURBOFOURLITRE or FOURLITRETURBO, will confirm later if you can't find me :D

ALEX.
26-10-2011, 04:34 PM
I will do it for you.
I'll RM it and paint it and the tuning is up to you.

One condition: you MUST keep the car with the same paint job colour I supply it to you with.

Hahaha keen to see how this turns out.

Anyone wanna run theirs around Suzuka and let me know how fast it is? I just did 172 laps in the RM Vette, thumb is so sore.. I think my best was a 1.49 but I got very bored and started looking for grassy shortcuts.

Dean, tried adding you last night but it said you didn't exist. I tried some combos but probably wrong orders or missed a character etc :S It was late...
Anyway I'm home soon so you'll have it by 5. Add me in the mean time if you want: GTP_AussieAlex

PS: will make it pink just to stand out!

i dunno if its just cause im a shit driver (the most likely cause) but i cant get a time any better than 2:10 and ive been at it for a good 20 minutes.

2 points:

1, only try do lap times in your own lobby room, with noone else in it, for some reason these are a more accurate reflection, the arcade laps are always faster.

2, you are not a shit driver, you just have a shit seat setup

Turbo2.6L

Turbo2.6L
27-10-2011, 06:27 PM
What's the go with ABS & TC? Completely off or driver's choice??

ALEX.
27-10-2011, 06:32 PM
Driver's choice for both.
Many of us never run TC as it makes the car's power delivery and grip (under acceleration) unpredictable and it ultimately slows you down. But this is a powerful car and a handful with a wheel, let alone a controller, so any inexperienced people would be forgiven for wanting to use TC.

Turbo2.6L
27-10-2011, 06:37 PM
Good, cause i failed hard with no TC! Haha

millzy_88
27-10-2011, 07:38 PM
I generally have TC on with most rwd cars with a fair amount of power. Its almost impossible to drive them and conserve tires etc with it off using a controller.

I am using teh controller b nice 2 me.
Those last races, I was running with no audio at all and had switched to a controller (after 3 hours of being used to a wheel) + not having used a controller to race in about 2 years anyway. Slack must be cut. MGR. :)

Nice variety tonight guys, and good to see some new peeps too.

Oh and TURBOTIMMY STOLE MY PINK VETTE!!! Bastard. Spent $250,000 on that thing...

Hi all,

By way of introduction 4Pot aka GTR31770 aka Jack in the real world. Thanks for racing last night, really enjoyed it. Should probably take it a little less seriously though .... :p

Did a quick (and crappy) showcase thread on one of my cars, just so you know if you see me out there

Nice to see you on here GTR.

Some good racing last night, for the most part.

Really enjoyed the Corvette races, but that's probably because I enjoy anything that gets a bit taily but controllable. Couldn't believe people were complaining about understeer, I though it turned in awesomely.

TJ
28-10-2011, 02:51 PM
Definitely no understeer, just impossible to find the limits with a controller.

millzy_88
28-10-2011, 03:01 PM
Yeah I was having trouble with understeer in a big way, then snap oversteer on exit. Must have been my setup. Definitely not a car that can be driven well with a controller.

Turbo2.6L
28-10-2011, 04:16 PM
Played online most of the day without issue, managed to have a few races between 8:30 & 9pm in MGR's lounge, then kept having connection errors after that. Opened up my own lounge & had some races with AKF6 without issue until my G25 pedals/gear shifter assembly stopped working :( Anyone ever had issues with their shifter & pedal assemblies not working whilst the wheel is still fine? It's only been used a handful of times...

ALEX.
28-10-2011, 07:00 PM
^ how is it connected to your PS3? Directly via the wheel's USB or does that go into a cheapo USB adapter so you can get more connections into the PS3's USB slot? It could be that there is not enough signal getting through at times – that happens with cheap adapters.
Otherwise just check all connections thoroughly. I've got no clue what could be wrong otherwise. Maybe Google it.

4pot
28-10-2011, 07:38 PM
I've had an issue where the plug connecting the wheel & pedals pulled out / was loose. Gave me the runaround for days and almost made me ditch my G27, easy fix at the end. Agree with Alex, check all connections one by one.

Turbo2.6L
29-10-2011, 12:52 AM
Plugged in directly to port 1 at front on PS3. Will check connections tomorrow & see how i go. Cheers guys :D

Worst racing I have had, could not get any car (especially the Z06) to work for me, and every time there was a pile up I ended up last some how.

Whinge over, still had fun as usual.

millzy_88
29-10-2011, 03:18 PM
One of my favourite pile ups was at the beginning of the Rome race, and while im on the topic of that race i so nearly held this 4 wheel slide that started in the previous corner. Just couldn't pull it in though and hit the wall.

I wasn't really finding understeer with the Corvette, only near the end in the slow corners where the front tyres were in worse shape than the rears, Grand Valley was a good race.

Can't race this week, away for work unfortunately..
