Police have confirmed that a child, believed to be three-years-old, was in a car that was shot at by a senior constable in Nollamara yesterday.
The senior constable responsible for the shooting in Nollamara will face disciplinary proceedings after internal affairs investigators found "there was no reason" for the discharge of his firearm.

While yeah, it's pretty extreme to start unloading rounds at escaping crooks, clearly the solution is for police to just allow criminals to drive away from them if they don't feel like being arrested.
I find it hilarious that in the USA and in various other countries, this shit happens on a daily basis many times over across the country.
Happens once here and its front page news..
Maybe if the cops here were given more power to use tasers/guns/etc, people would think twice before flouting the law.

I loved the press conference from Flak, wanting to find the occupants of the vehicle because their input will give them a clear picture of what happened. Really? You're going to rely on a bunch of a coons to clear everything up? Good luck with that!
If what they are saying is true he'll get a LOC notice and will be looking for a new job, and rightly so.

Not my mate. But lets face it. It says police are allowed to shoot if they fear for their life. They stopped a car load of people on a street in Nollamara that right there is pretty good justification in my books.

At the moments cops try to stop some one who has done something and they just keep on walkin as they know the police have less force behind them than a feather duster.

a lot more to the story? they took off from a traffic stop and the cop shot at the car? unless they were hanging out the window rattling off shots at the cop, i find it hard to see a reason for shooting.
cops have one of the harder jobs in this life, but you can't be letting off shots willy nilly

PerthNow can reveal that Niko Westergerling, 39, is under investigation by internal affairs officers amid claims he unlawfully accessed the WA Police database.
The revelation comes just months after the senior constable was convicted and fined $2000 for a brutal attack on his wife during a heated argument at their Innaloo home in February.
Subsequent claims then arose that he had misused the secure police database to access information unrelated to his police work.

seems this guy is a few tins short of a 6 pack.
But i saw the result of a cop trying to stop a stolen car in the middle of northbridge one night, cops where either side of the car trying to get the keys out and the guys arrested, driver of the car proceded to grab forward and reverse a bunch of times slamming into the cars in front of behind to make space, then hooked a u turn with one of the coppers hanging in the passenger side window..
The car thieves method of getting rid of him was to side swipe parked cars on the passenger side and slam the poor guy into one of the parked cars, how it didn't kill him i don't know, one of my friends who was in my car at the time we saw this happening was one of the first there and went to see him while he was in hospital, from memory he spent about a year of work and suffered an untold number of busted bones and a stack of internal injuuries, to say he was lucky to survive at all is an understatement..
It is shit like that why i can see a cop pulling a gun if someone goes to drive off..

I don't know the exact story, only what the media is portraying, but I know if a car was hurtling towards me then I wouldn't hesitate to shoot. As for this specific scenario, who knows. What I do know however, is that if you are in a stolen car and carrying out criminal activities, you put yourself at risk. If you weren't being a law-breaking fuck, then you wouldn't have a cop shooting at you. Three year old in the car? Well you're a useless oxygen thieving fuck of a parent, for putting your own shild at risk.

He stopped her for not wearing a seatbelt, she gave a false name, then put her window up and drove off (away from him).
He raged, pulled his gun out and pretty much shot at a car full of people (including a toddler and pregnant lady) for no good reason (the only crime was that the driver was not wearing a belt and gave a false name).

A non cop wouldnt be armed on the street with authority to carry said weapon on street and discharge it at his discretion.
