We got the first run last round in the light. 6.30 is when we normally start...

Manna - if you were any good as a photographer you'd not worry about sun and get great shots at night, sans flash of course...

Kidding - your shots of my car would have to be some of, if not the best, in my very un-professional opinion!

Gearshift fixit stuff arrived for me today - so entry for January going in real soon, assuming it fixes and I can select gears. Can't wait - love these events!

For this next round, I'm entered with co-pilot James.
James has a new helmet with built-in intercom and all the gear needed to set it up for two people. He's wanting to give it a try before the next round when he will be driving. I don't have a helmet with an intercom but if anyone does and is willing to lend it for Thursday the 19th it would be very much appreciated from both of us!

If you don't have the helmet yourself but know of anyone who does, please PM me with details!

In return, I offer a video of me binning it into a big scary concrete barrier that really shouldn't be there...
I'm pre-empting that part.

PS: I need to grab either a second 1kg extinguisher or a fresh 2kg one.
I currently have a 1kg bolted to a bracket across the front passenger seat rails. Pretty standard setup. For those other GC8 owners, where have you put a second one?
Thanks in advance :)

Anyone else heading down to watch tonight?

Going to bring the camera down and have a look. If the 33 was ready I would have entered.

Some from this avo.

Just some feedback for the organisers. I was shooting at the hairpin round about and i was a bit shocked to see a group of children running across the track. Yelled at them to try and get them back over but they essentially ignored me. I did inform one of the marshals as i walked back. I think there needs to be more marshal stands or at least more officials walking around to stop people crossing the boundaries. Not really keen to see a child run over...... Besides that was a good avo :)

Really happy with my result considering the total lack of power my car has

Yeah, was a good night, heat aside. Less chicanes running this way, so suited my car better and managed to get closer to Franz/Jamie et. al. than ever before. I was sweating buckets in my car. Triple layer suit don't help much either... Dry weather at least was good, sprinklers not so good...

Plus Franz finally got beat, after how many rounds of winning?! Quite a record there. Watching Jones/Jamie /Franz come through and you don't have to wonder very much why there are at the pointy end!

Was up on the bridge and saw Jamie's 2nd last corner dive under brakes. Dicey - but he made it. The yellow wrx half turned in, before he realised Jamie was stuffing the evo up the inside. Looking at the results, that go Jamie just ahead of Greenham overall, it was that tight.

Brockas - did you get there for a look see? Pretty sure you'd enjoy the event driving, but you'll curse your big single turbo I'd say. My co-driver runs a GT-R with twins tuned for track work (mid range power to punch hard from 4k RPM and up) and he is of the opinion that it would be a lag monster there. Still, best you give it a go and don't die wondering!

Tom - saw you throw your 944 around the last few corners a couple of times. Nice. You got some decent tyres on it yet, or just like overdriving it a bit - well, who dosen't?

Have decent tyres on it now (AO48) but was overdriving it towards the end, much more confident at the end than at the start where the kurbs are. I had a bit of a drag on the freeway on the way home and was beaten by a mates stock sv6 commodore.. :(

Hey mate, yeh I got down for a look. Can't wait to get the car sorted so I can join in on these nights, looks like great fun and should be a good opportunity to scare the living shit out of the fiancée.

My turbo setup is WAY too big for this sort of stuff, and no doubt it'll be laggy, but to be honest I'll be surprised if it's much different to a GTR running average sized twins (GT-SS's etc). With the ethanol fuel I run we can smash huge timing into it, and as such it's making about 1.2bar at 4000rpm and revs to 8700, so it shouldn't be too painful (here's hoping!). As long as it doesn't dip down below 4000rpm too much I should be ok.

ps. The missus loved your car. It looks damn good out there.

Tom - getting hammered by a SV6 isn't that slow, well perhaps it sucks a bit in a competition car I guess. I've timed a hire car or two SIDI SV6 and dynolicious says about 14.6 for the 1/4, so they're not slow. But yep, you can't have enough power.
Brockas - well sounds like you're no worse off for midrange than the power curve of a good twin turbo setup RB26. The place is far, far tighter than it first would appear however, very point and squirt for me at least. You do get a couple of nice opportunities to open it up and get close to 200 k's! Course has a bit of everything - including kerbs, fences, barriers unfortunately.

I've done quite a few of these with similar setup to Brockas and provided your prepared to change gears out of tight corners, you'll be fine Brockas
