Dudes,

I'm chasing an LS1 that has been ruined and cannot be repaired. Bare block only, even better if I can just copy the engine number from it.

If you can help, please PM me.

Dan

Hey, whoa, keep your speculation to yourselves! :)

I already have an LS1 in great condition with an engine number. Should I want to register that motor elsewhere, however, I need to have an LS1 number for my car, for it's current LS1.

More speculation. Just put your same old engine number on it and add an extra number or two on the end. i.e 402 ;)

And why would the pits or DPI look kindly on that? I thought it would be easier to submit an application of engine change due to piston slappy VX motor and get new rego forms with updated LS1 number which correlates to a previously registered car LS1 car with said number.

Head down to Greenfields rego shop or whatever it is. Fill out the engine change form with any number that isn't already being used and give it to the girl at the counter. No questions asked. Just a new number on the rego papers when they turn up for renewal. Don't know what the law or pits would say about it. Never had that drama. Lack of two tone.

Why can't you use the original LS1 engine number that is linked with the car?

Might want to use the old engine in another car and get regoed. Then alarm bells will ring with the rego people. 2 regoed cars, same engine number situation.

my vy is still registered with the original engine number. no idea where that engine is now.

ive never worried about it, but then i've never sold the car.

Just buy a 3.8L from Wallistons & rego it as a 6cyl. Easy

Call Dpi and ask for a new engine number for a replacement stock block you have just purchased?

I have considered this many times, but always figured they may question it and want to inspect the 'crate 5.7L'.

So no ruined LS1s?

i still have a damaged ls1 block from some one elses car, but im not sure if that car ever had the engine number changed once it had a new motor put in. and that was atleast 4 years ago now.
