View Full Version : Removing LPG Tank

So I'm ripping the LPG system out of the 190E in preparation for the "too hard basket" engine conversion.

Problem is, the tank is still 5/8 full... Now, I've already isolated it (the outlet of the tank) via the nozzle on the tank, and the residual gas in the lines to the engine bay has already been vented to atmosphere. What I'm wondering is...is there a check-valve/one-way-valve on the fill-lines (ie. the inlet of the tank) to prevent gas escaping out that way?

Any other advice for removing the tank? Is there a company that will safely dispose of the gas inside the tank once I have removed it from the vehicle?

Cheers.

Tank has a tap on it inside the service box. Turn off, disconnect and put it in the rubbish bin

Yeah already turned that tap/nozzle off - I guess it's good to go then! Cheers Josh

Hook it up to your bbq and have free gas for a few years......

You will find it hard to get rid of with gas in it, scrap metal wont take it without service valves removed and same applies for tip.

When empty put it in a trailer And fill up at servo. Continue to enjoy cheap BBQ heat

I thought that autogas was butane and propane mixture 50/50 and bbq gas bottles is pure propane. So its still fine to use either as a form of gas BBQ?
