Hey all

Decided to buy an xr6 turbo ute

Anyways started idling shithouse, terrible fuel economy etc

Anyways chucked it on scan tool
Came up with heater wire fault for one
So changed both but then got same code for both about heater wire circuit fault.

So removed front one replaced with old one And left new one after cat in..

Now it's just getting one heater wire fault code

Seems to be running ok though.

Also battery had been relocated to tray in prob one of the worse efforts I'd ever seen.
Every terminal was loose, practically no earth.

Fixed that at the same time. But still getting the one heater wire circuit fault code.

Going to try another brand of 02 sensor in the front sensor to replace old one.

Is there anything I can check to make sure it's not a lack of earth or power supply to the sensor?

Or if anyone has had the same issue? Cheers

are you fitting the same sensor front and rear?

Yeh I was told they would be find but after idling for about 2 mins it went downhill quick!

front and rear sensors are different. Front is for closed loop control for the PCM, rear is for euro 4 emissions compliance.

Does the car have an after market cat fitted?

From memory the front sensor has a green plug and the rear is blue (genuine bosch)

Leave the rear out and run the car with a stock front sensor, you should get a check engine light for emissions.
this is easily fixed by turning the rear 02 sensor off in the tune.

Aah fair enough..

I'll definately look into it tomorrow as in getting replacents.

Front and rear did look completely different when I pulled them out.

Has a "free flowing" cat too from last owner

Has it been tuned with the "free flowing" cat installed. BF's will have a hissy fit with a non oem cat if the correct changes aren't made to the tune.

Yeh was tuned with it apparently..

Where's good to get exact part numbers to replace both sensors?

ford dealer should be able to give you the ford part #'s then take these to cov's or similar for the bosch PN. Prices for 02 sensors vary so shop around. Fleabay is usually the best option if you can afford to wait

Before you buy new sensor's run the numbers for the sensors you have through google.

OH yeh will do..
I wouldn't buy them from ford that's for sure.

Seems eBay has genuine ones that look exact the same as mine but have to check part numbers tomorrow

Thanks for the help, hopefully this sorts it

Ok

New 02 sensor in,
Reset computer
Reset base idle
Cleaned out throttle body
Cleaned out PVC valve
Cleaned out boost solenoid
Newish plugs
New fuel filter
Cleaned air filter

Still running rich and hesitating down low

Anything else that could cause this.

Dicky fuel reg (unlikely) or Bad tune! If you have sorted out some suspect wiring it could be playing havoc with the voltage offset tables for the injectors in the tune

Do you have a flash tuner for it? Where abouts in perth are you located?

In balga mate NOR

Do you know who tuned it by any chance?

was it tuned with the dodgy battery install?

Um was tuned by extreme ford tuning I believe.

No idea about battery, don't think so.. Rear mount setup was put in by last owner along time after it was tuned
