Sisters shitbox LD Astra (N13 Pulsar) won't cold start.

1.8L EFI (18LE), just changed all plugs and leads, dizzy cap has been cleaned up, rest of dizzy assy seems perfectly fine.

When its stone cold, it cranks over fine but just cranks and cranks and cranks, then eventually it will kick over 1 cyl, then 2, then start on 3 and after a few secs it will fire on all 4.

It drives fine, doesn't missfire, doesn't mow fuel - it runs REALLY well, but it just won't cold start.

Ideas? Possible that the coil is half shagged and needs to warm itself up before giving reliable spark? Someone else mentioned coolant temp sensor...

definatly check your coolant levels, might not be faulty sensor may just be getting wrong info. chuck a new radiator cap on it while your at it.

do these have an extra injector for cold start? also check for vacume leaks.. you wont get proper mixture if you have one

Don't believe it has an extra injector, haven't had a GOOD look but 99% sure it doesn't.

Coolant/water is full, but can't say I've bled the system properly.

Vacuum leak ... oh joy, haha. That will be fun.

Will give it a crack on Sunday and see if I come up with any answers.

your not parking on grass over night ? if so park on driveway / road some cars react with the jew in the mornings

other than that maybe try holding ign on for 5 sec's to let the fuel pump prime your shit up

Coolant Temp sensor may be the issue, usually makes it run rich as fuck when faulty, so try replacing that, might be flooding it.
Take the fuel return line off at the rail, crank it over and see how much fuel comes out, obviously into a container, to make sure it's getting fuel through the rail.
Before it fires up, take the plugs out and check them to see if they are fuely also.
Check they are actually sparking while you have them out.

Checked timing ?

Timing has been checked, was running like a pig so that was the first thing that was corrected. The more I think about it, the more I've got the inkling it is the FPR or even a blocked fuel filter. While it does drive great/smooth/etc, it doesn't go anywhere NEAR as good as previous 18LEs that I've owned - it's really slow.

I'm waiting for it to cool down to try a theory (prime the pump up a few times before kicking it over), should narrow it right down.

Will report back with what I find tomorrow.

Ok so my theory proved what I thought it was - something fuel related. Sat and primed the fuel pump a few times, and it started straight off the bat.

Going to change fuel filter and chuck some injector cleaner thru it to see if that fixes anything. Yes ok injector cleaner could/might be a con, but it's a 23 year old car, it can't hurt to try.

If you are going to use an injector cleaner use liquor molly. Only one I've ever found to actually work.
