Personally don't rate the motor above the 1HD, but now he has torque and live axle front end so pretty cool.

Most people would just go out and buy a VDJ7X though.

Not a 200 series motor though, so hardly same spec.

alot of work required

better off with the hdj as hako pointed out

the motor is a single turbo version out of the 70 series troopy and ute, the new 200 series has the 4.5l v8 twin turbo, where as the motor above has the 4.5l single turbo

Bet it's still got less go than a tickled 1HD-FT

I bet it still cost less though. lol

I work for Chip It and drive these all the time, nice fun motors! Shame the 70 Series is so uncomfortable, but I'd own the above truck!

agree with rhys, great engine shoved into an uncomfortable over priced bucket of poo.
a 105 with one in it would make for a fantastic 4x4, people expect them to be big powerhouses spinning the tyres in the dry, i see it as something i can cruise at 40kph in 4th gear without any chugging or struggling of any sort (something i do constantly at work)

They might be uncomfortable but they are pretty tuff

We used Patrols for most of the 5 years i been in the Coal industry but just over a year ago we switched to the Toyotas

Early on they were pieces of shit and had many broken engines, then they got it right and now they don't miss a beat

I would own that 100 series in a flash with one of these motors in it... i do wonder why he didnt go for a modded 1HD though

Probably to be different. Isn't that what it's all about?
I'd still take a 6.6L Duramax over the 4.5L V8.

wasnt happy with the old motors reliability after boosting it.

congrats on turning this one into a 300zx, wanna hope nothing ever needs replacing it that bay.
