Anyone have a hookup for the above?

Have narrowed it down to getting a new set of either Allied/Fuel or Pro Comps and interested to see if anyone has a hookup?

Also chasing a set of fairly aggressive all-terrains. Any recommendations? As the car is my promo piece (work) they need to look the part also.

I do 25k-30k km's each year, not keen on driving around with muddies (most of my 4x4 is beach work anyways).

Cooper SST's have a pretty agressive all terrain look

They look more mud terrain? 20% road 80% sand?

I've sent them an email. Wasn't overly impressed with them last two times I've purchased wheels/tyres off them, that was many years ago however. Fingers crossed :)

Cooper ST MAXX looks the goods.

MIckey T ATZ 4 Rib is chunky but not aggressive looking

Best of getting a set of Maxxis Sticky Treps, they'll suit you perfectly :)

Looking to get a 17" wheel at around the standard sizing (265/65/17) or there abouts?

I have Cooper ST MAXX and they look the good not sure if they will look that aggressive in that profile though... they're pretty quiet too!

BFG KM2's

Look good, wear great, like a mud tyre buy as quiet as a AT tyre.

Cheers for the recommendations guys.

Any recommendations for actual stores to go see? Several places have taken over a week just to confirm prices/availability.

Keen to get wheels, car should be here shortly and I'd like to have it all sorted once it arrives.

Best price for alll tyres I looked at recently was Brooks tyres in Bullsbrook. But remember bob Jane will beat any written quote by 10%

Tyrepower Ellenbrook for Coopers.
Recently bought 35" STTs and they were $70 a tyre cheaper, massive saving!

Looked at Nitto Dune Grapplers? Not quite an all terrain but still has the aggressive look you are after.
Can get them from Ozzy Tyres or Taleb Tyres. However I think the smallest 17 size they come in is 285/70R17.

Tyres with the least aggressive tread do the best on sand. Buy a good compressor and a tyre that has decent sidewalls so you can drop the tyre pressure right down.

The Rodeo I have currently has done a huge amount of beach work. Quite simply - I love my fishing.

The new rig has to look the part though, it's going to be stickered up and with a new set of wheels/bar work it needs to be cosmetically 'right' as it's my promo vehicle after all.

It's a bit of a compromise for how I would normally go about choosing tyres etc.. In saying that I won't go down the path of a mud-terrain. As it won't see any of that sort of work. It'll get alot of single track work (bush, dune etc) and beach work.

Personally Adz, I thought the coopers I had were fail. Had the ATR. The tread chipped in chunks, seemed to puncture more readily, give good miles but shit on road grip. Much happier with my bfg all terrains KO (285/70/17) Reasonably aggressive look, great on road grip and quiet running and good off road. No puncture issues yet. I know it doesn't help the local tyre sales guys but at the time they couldn't supply for weeks so I got em out if the us on tirerack. Saved about $120 a corner fitted.

Similarly great rim choices out of the US

LOL at puncturing an ATR frequently, you driving offroad with 50psi to chunk them as well?

^^^^ Re puncturing "frequently", the words I used were "more readily". There is a difference. Had several punctures with the ATR driving the same terrain where with the BFG I haven't had any. Maybe I have been lucky?

Re pressures, I have had "little" bit of time 4WDing so have a fair idea of what pressures are appropriate for the terrain so your assumption I am a muppet is wrong. :)

Just offering my experience. I ran the ATR and then the BFG TA KO on the same car, over the same terrain and my experience was the AT KO outperformed the cooper both on and off the road. Maybe I got a dud set of ATR's?

Seems there are others who have had similar experiences with the Cooper.

Bit of a grave dig on that thread.

Keep working on your pressures, you'll work it out soon. All tyres will chip if you get the pressures wrong, especially on gravel roads.

If its just a bit of dunes / beach work, would the stock wheels handle those duties?

Then get yourself a set of 18's + with Cooper Zeon LTZ's for "show" like the promo Colorado had?

Coopers suck arse.

Spirited driving in heavy car on the road will rip chunks off them.

BFG all terrains from tirerack....bought 5 275/65/18 for old boys prado, was $210 per tyre plus postage all up about $1600 delivered.

Go for smallest rim size possible.
Possibly 15-16" depending on brake clearance?
allows two things. longer footprint when deflating and cheaper rubber too.

the coopers do tend to chip very easily. even their chip resistant compound
BFG good but you do pay for it here in WA
Mickey Thompson good also but generally more pricey than the BFGs

17/18's on a 4wd is silly unless that is the smallest rim you can go with

Agreed with upgarage for the ideal world, but if you want "the look" that will still do a decent job off road, some of the 17 and 18" packages (eg pic huggy b put up) do look the goods and will be adequate for moderate off road work. You don't quite get the bigger footprint but its adequate. For me I am limited to 17" min with brakes and have found the 17's to be fine. The reality for me is I have one set of wheels and sadly do 90% road kms as it is my daily work car, so 17's are a nice compromise for good road manners and adequate off road performance.

The ST Maxx's are a completely new different tire, they have the Kevlar sidewalls like the SSTs not the same as old coopers or I wouldnt have bought them either, took mine through pilbara/Kimberely and take it offroad quite often and they are awesome On and Off road for grip, pretty certain they got voted quitest AT tire onroad too in 4x4 mag.
