Hi Guys,

This may be a stupid question but just keen to know what I am up against. Recently I have noticed that as my car comes on boost there is quite a loud wooshing noise as if a lot of air is escaping and also my BOV noise has been a lot quieter than what it used to be on release.

My question is am I right in assuming it is my BOV leaking or could it be something more serious?

I/C hose leak ?
VAC hoses split
Fucked BOV diagphram

Possibilities are endless, always start at the stupid/easy end of the scale

Pressure test the system, that will tell you if you have any leaks and where they are.

if you have a boost leak from the BOV or what ever, it would register on the guage right?

Not necessarily, my old car had a hole in one of the pipes, it had rubbed on the subframe.
The car was still pushing 440rwhp at 15 psi of boost. The car had also been up on a dyno countless times and been tuned etc by a reputable tuner here in Perth, however, he missed the little detail that there was a hole in the pipe... Poor turbo must have been huffin and puffin hard to be able to produce pressure in the manifold...

Fuck, that's quite a big hole to not be recognised...
Does anyone know where I can buy one of the pressure testers?

SSQVs you can adjust them, have a search around and make sure it's not too tight

If you have a welder or know someone that does, you can easily make your own.
A 3" bit of pipe (or whatever size that fits your turbo), weld a lid on it, drill a hole in the lid and smash through a valve for car tires.

Done.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, had a look at this on the weekend and found the problem. Turned out one of the silicone hose joints right next to my I/C had split, I replaced that and tightened up a couple of other hose clamps and now it runs like a dream.

Much appreciated.

Just in case you didnt know, another way to test for leaks is just to spray all connectioness with carby cleaner at idle and listen for any change.
can be a bit easier than pressure testing
