Gents,
Scored a Forward facing plenum for my car, however it’s in Chrome – I wanted it in black or grey something more stealth.
Does anyone know how this is possible and what products to use? I am assuming it will need to be etched or similar for the paint to stick, or can I have it powder coated? Will powder coating stand up to under bonnet heat?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Tocchi

i used powdercoating on the xr8's cam covers without any heat issues.
just cover the flanges of it with tape so it seals when fitted.

if u go the powder coating road make sure u blast it or ruffen the chrome up so it has something to bite to.
otherwise it had a good chance of peeling off
and powder coat will handle the heat.
we have a powder that will handle 470 C

Are you suggesting for a sum of money you could make my chrome plenum black?

I painted my missus rims that were chrome with an etch primer first, then matte black. Been 1.5 years and it hasn't worn off.

Thanks, I'll give that a try with an old trim first
