Boys and Girls,

In case you're wondering how to use the only long weekend going around this time of year, get yourself to Albany. A nice quiet weekend in the country, what could possibly shatter the peace? Well, quite a lot as it happens.

Heaps of action all weekend - Saturday: there are two hillclimbs running (Wind Farm for SES and Mt Clarence for VSCC) plus probably a round of the state motorkhana champs, typically down the bottom of Mt Clarence.
Sunday: VSCC round the houses. This is a pretty big event, heaps of people and it takes over pretty much the whole Albany town centre.
Monday: Mt Clarence hillclimb for SES.

I'm in for round the houses on Sunday and Mt Clarence hillclimb on Monday. Round the houses has been on my to-do list for many, many years, so hopefully this year car don't break down on the way there like last year, grrr.

What time does everything start on Saturday, and finish up on Monday?

Definitely keen!!! I grew up down there I know of these courses and they are fun!
'tis a great weekend too a good "something's happening in or country town" buzz.

The folks still live there so I'm set for accommodation.

Thoughts on a Perth-to-Albany cruise/convoy for the weekend in mention?...

I am already entered in the hillclimbs

Wind farm on the Saturday is no good for spectators as all you see is the first 300m of the straight upto the first left but as a driver it is a huge blast

Mt Clarance is ok as you get to stand next to the first 100 or so metres of the track and watch the cars around the first bend
This is a link to my Mt Clarance video

I cannot find the one I have from the wind farm for some reason

Damn that sounds like porn!

The windfarm rd used to be a lot of fun when it was gravel, even more when they widened it.. a few trees along the side still bare a few bruises I believe :P

Gonna be an awesome weekend!

Albany Classic/Round The Houses was awesome! We drove down Saturday with the intention of going to the Hillclimb in the afternoon but decided to chill for the rest of the day, had to drive back early this morning as well so missed the second Hillclimb too. :(

Will sift through my photos of RTH later. Suffice to say 200MPH's GT40 captured the attention of every spectator whenever he went flying past; such an ear-gasmic sound on full noise.

Cheers Duste. Was a reasonable weekend. Was fighting a
Suicidal clutch which was getting worse all weekend, but otherwise great. Loved
Watching the historic touring cars go nuts! Badger's orange GT Falc and the Black Camaro were dialing up bulk wheelspin everywhere. Not so great were the time delays meaning we missed our last round of 'races'. Thanks to CAMS and a couple of clowns eating concrete. The Torana dude will be looking for a new shell I'd say... Pity, that was my event that was cut short due to his crash. Glad I wasn't caught up in it.

Hillclimb today was great. Ran very smoothly, sunny weather and we got all our 5 timed runs in by about 1:30. Only a couple of minor mishaps, resulting in a very nice 240z losing part of it's front spoiler. Oh, and sensible phil lived up to his name by smashing his new unbrako half shaft on his first launch...not good.

Anyway, roll on next June!

One of my favourite cars from the racing events was actually that maroon Mini; it loved being thrown around corners!

Do you know what actually happened with the Torana? I can only assume his brakes locked up as all I could see was a plume of smoke after impact, however that could have also been from a busted radiator. I have a photo of the damage (albeit a sub-par,out-of-focus photo) so I'll throw that up when I get home. Heartbreaking for the owner, I'd imagine. :(

Couple of my favourites from the show-n-shine... Excuse the Facebook quality on these ones, haven't uploaded them to my hosting yet:

What colour was that Torana Duste, I know two of the Collie Motorsport Group members were taking their down for the weekend. They where giving them a shakedown the week before and I know one of them was complaining about the lack of brakes compared to his saloon car.

Barbados green was the colour. There were two that colour running but! Apparently driver was a collie lad and he also races saloon cars, so could be the one you're thinking of 404.
Report from driver directly behind was he tried way too hard to pass Bill's XD falcon at top of straight on the outside and ran out of talent and locked it up. Wall was rather second hand too...I was on clean up duty later and got to see chunks of missing concrete.
Pretty pointless mistake really since you're not allowed to go too fast. I got half a clear lap in practice and went 3 seconds under my time without trying.

Oh dear... I was just admiring that car the week before and from the sound of it the car is now BER! Is that event an 8/10's or 10/10's effort because if it was an 8/10's then I feel worse for you and anyone else that missed out on runs as a result.

200MPH definitely a standout for us, looked and sounded so good. The Fiat (? had a Wald windscreen sticker) with 13b sounded pretty fucking good too.
Only managed to catch the round the houses practise laps, but from what we saw it looked good.
Concrete barriers looked pretty nasty. Flinched every time you guys went through the bottom chicane.

Dick Ward from GoGear owns the Fiat it runs a 12A

I put my camera inside the car for one of his runs at the hillclimb on monday and will post after I unload the car and relax for a few hours

As Julian said I broke the new shafts that i had made last week that is 2 in 3 meetings
I am now looking at what needs modifying to put bigger Cv joints in it

Disregard the lack of focus...

Don't get your hopes up; I didn't take many static photos! To be honest I only really took my camera to practice a bit of panning - suffice to say I'm not the best at it so they won't be making an apperance any time soon either haha. :P

EDIT: Here's one of the Rotard Fiat...

Spoke to Mike yesterday , he just tried to brake a little later into the chicane , lucky it was only a spoiler broken and nothing else .
