Can I just add also - if you are hitting up Brandon/Brodie for personal footage atm, please remember this work was done to set scope and budget.

It was not asked or agreed that he would dig through huge amounts of film looking for personal cars.

I understand and appreciate everyone wants their own personal memory of a great weekend, but given his normal workload and the time and cost involved to dig up individual video, please dont be insulted if it is met with a polite no.

Great production - got home late last night, snuck into bed and tried to quietly check the video out on my phone. Howling tyres and reving engines woke the wife. Video was worth the angst I got nonetheless...can't get a higher approval rating than that!

Cars raced side-by-side, and the fastest time of the day was recorded by a relatively humble Falcon F6, running 272km/h at the finish.

Shit it's 272 o'clock, time for bed, hahaha. Still great to see some extra coverage though. Stoked I'm in the video as well, only got one pro pic of my car (not surprising for a plain looking Falcon), thanks to Simon for filming the mad chop he served me!

Actually that's one thing that I think should be changed next year. A lot of stuff refers to 0-1000m timed runs but results were based on top speeds, which again is unusual because other similar events results are usually based of ET's and not trap speeds.

Would be good to have prizes for the quickest times to 1000m though, you GTR and hi-po AWD boys will dominate! I still think the major prize is/should be the top speed though.

BTW that F6 ran a 9.6 1/4mile the other day on ET streets, considering he couldn't get traction until 150kmh+ it just shows the power of the thing and how the big hp RWD cars find it hard to get the power down on that surface.

I'm not unhappy. Had an awesome weekend and did what I set out to achieve :)

I don't think there shouldn't be prizes for top speed, just thought that the actual fastest cars should also get something!

Next year we will just get the 4wd's to drive off the line to give them plenty of extra time to reach top speed. Should make for a better spectacle :p

Can we also ban turbos next year so people who don't have them won't be disadvantaged?

Well, I'm with the top speed camp. As TJ said, it takes away most of the AWD advantage off the line. And there are not too many events where that happens.

I'm fairly over playing catch up every time I do a standing start event, which is most of them! Having said that, there was heaps of traction at Wylie, best I've experienced in current car. I could stop whining and get an AWD I guess...nah. You gotta think "What would Chuck Norris do?", and then you can be damn sure there would be no AWD, traction control, automatics/DSG etc. Hell, there'd be no helmets or belts either...

We've told the timing gear we'll buy it a puppy if it behaves next year. It's seems happy enough now and promised it will be on it's best behavior :p

Yep, was reminded of the quickest/fastest titles in drag racing circles referring to time and speed.

I`ll say the timing equipment did well enough for the main event(..only cause I did well !! lol) But I do find the groupings of Identical times in the results a little unusual, maybe just a resolution thing maybe !?

As for the event being based on trap not et, is that so unusual ? wasn`t Tamora and stuff like the Texas mile based on top speed ?

Feature vid...was all right, a little too based on $$ flash spank factor..... I think it would have been nice and quiet appropriate to show at least a fleeting glimpse of the winner of the event !

The footage from inside the McLaren during the race was good but they used the bit after we backed off just past the cross strip :/ We bloody well won damn it ! :p

Anyways the rental pretend police car got some love so I got a laugh watching the latest video, also kinda sad now that I smashed the roof light bar on my last top speed run ( should just buy another one and get over it ;) ). I think Tino's Dakdak & 360CS would be close to the most photographed cars at the event but all the video's so far have done a good job to show just what an eclectic assortment of vehicles we had on the weekend.

I think Temora and Snowy Mountains are ET based.
Texas mile is top speed.
I think the roll racing was the best part of the weekend anyway.

Correct on all counts although while most of the entrants liked the roll on's most of the people I've spoken to want to retain the 1000m timed session and keep it top speed based. We did record ET's as well as top speed but awarded positions based on top speed. We're open to suggestions to improve the formula for RW14 but we also need to keep the rules, classes and other admin side as simple if not simpler than RW13 as it gets out of hand too easily.

In reality RW14 is a while off yet and a topic for another place and another time. So I'm going to watch that video again and wait for the magazine articles to come out in the interim ! :D

yep, axe the plane more roll ons more runs and keep the Vmax sessions also - although not as exciting to watch i am sure its great for the drivers (car didnt make it to these sessions this year)

Videos appearing are pretty good. The only thing that annoys me a bit is every shot is a jib shot with movement. Not everything needs it and it actually got a tad annoying by the end. In saying that though the video was still decent and displayed exactly what the weekend was all about.

I was just spit balling idears... we could kiss it by just having a ref who rules fair start or not(and only would happen If there was a sandy vag/protest)

I would just get into it more if there was an actual competition going on......maybe just the entrants could handle/do it all by having a chat after runs and then sort out grudges !

(tell me if i`m out of line and or should not mention in an open forum ?) but we could run a pot $5 in each among interested parties and winner takes the pot, pay for fuel etc n shit

I think there's laws against running illegal betting books however private bets between mates are fine.

We have looked in to various systems to ensure the roll on starts are fair right up to speed traps with lights that trigger if a speed is exceeded and so on, it's all money though and really for runs that are just supposed to be a bit of fun it's probably not worth it for the few who don't want to play fair ( I did cheat on one run myself this year I'll admit :p ) Anyways... as mentioned earlier RW14 is a while away and we'll cross some bridges when we come to them.

The plane would have been awesome if I managed it properly. The only reason it sucked was it wouldn't hot start and I didn't have a plan to fill the gaps. The fact that every video I've seen has run a clip with the plane proves that while it was a fuck up it did the job. If it's back next year it we won't make the same mistakes we did this time around.
