Folks,

1- Forum members piss take to claim Mark Webber wanna be's that want to give it their best shot to bragging rights at Warren's Ultra Fast Karts Cockburn International Raceway track. TO BE HELD ON THE 3RD OF NOVEMBER 2013 at 11am [/]

2- [B]You are responsible for your own payments and coming up with the $$$ at the track. Don’t rely on eftpos.

3 - The track configuration will be a mini grand prix known as the event with track timing activated.

4- The track deposit for a single kart for a group booking is non refundable therefore your deposit is not refundable. Another person may take your place and it is your responsibility to get your deposit from said person replacing you. It may be possible to upgrade to twin engines on the day.

5-Therefore if less than 10 pay the deposit which will be held by me, by the due date, the deposit will be returned and the event cancelled. The deposit will be $50. The cost of hiring the Kart is $100. THE DEPOSIT WILL BE REQUIRED BY 6TH OCTOBER 2013

6- However after the event being cancelled the activity will still be conducted on the said day but no timing lights and the activity will be mixed in with the general public. This is not the intent.

7- The event will be open to the first 20 people that have paid a deposit. 30 people expressed interest.

8- Track day will be Thunder Karts Single engine go-kart.

9 -ON THE DAY YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR ENCLOSED FOOTWEAR.
RACE SUIT, HELMET AND GLOVES . Will be included in your hire.

10- Rules and activity will be undertaken by Warren's Ultra Fast Karts Cockburn International Raceway track.. Participants will be checked off on the day.

11- PM your details for payment arrangement.

12- Format to be:
User name,
Contact details.
First name - Last name.

I will update the page as the money rolls in.

I’ve done it this way to secure a booking, cancel if required without losing a deposit and said day still locked away for a race if all else fails.

Anticipate a lunch time session. Hopefully the Ship and Dock Inn for a counter meal after.

- Deep down you know if your coming or not...

Not quite kicked out, but if you spin out on your practice/warm up laps they'll turn one of the engines off - provided you're using the twin-engined karts.

Span out on one of my race laps and they didn't have a problem with it...

don't they use a 3 strike system, last time i was down at Wanners it was like that but they where still pretty relax about it once we started the race

we went to cockburn one evening when i twas very damp and they were strict in the practice

with good reason though... was very very easy to lose control in the race so not being a fuckwit in practice helped immeasurably

Went there not long ago with the twin engine karts (massive improvement over the other karts, go figure), and I was coming out of the corners going sideways a bit, but it was a dry day, so it wasn't too much of a problem if it got a little messy. Also locked up brakes coming into the corners many times and no problem.

They seemed pretty chuffed with my efforts. Good feels man.

joshg123
29-05-2013, 07:54 PM
Damp is the best,

Its changed ownership, used to be a man in a singlet who would slap you on the face with his double plugger. Now its warren.

Warren puts the fear of god into you at the start, and sure if your a fuckhead you will get booted. But drive correctly and genuinely make an effort and your fine.

Milhouse
29-05-2013, 08:10 PM
RB20ZED and i went to cockburn on a day that was raining a fair bit, rung them up and they were very keen to have customers come down... bar the sitting in a puddle for a seat the slippery tyres / track turned out to be a lot of fun.

Also being the only two people out there, we stopped and changed karts mid track, they didnt mind at all.

This was before Warrens took it over tho...

Denver
29-05-2013, 08:30 PM
Warrens a spanker, and unfortunately has tied up all the out door kart joints, seems the only ones he doesn't own are indoor now..

Went there for work end of year do, had the three strikes rule, i spun out once because my throttle return spring snapped (that was fun) didn't get a strike for it tho, we were all going sideways and having good battles for positions they seemed pretty lenient. basically said don't be a dickhead, although we were in a large group and had the track to ourselves. if you went by yourself or with a mate i could see them telling you to piss off for driving silly

adrenalin
30-05-2013, 10:22 AM
Also was sliding around and only got 2 strikes due to spinning out. One wasnt my fault due to having someone slide into me and shoved me off the track and other i carried way to much speed and touched the edge.

As long as its not demo derby i think they are fine with it.

Hear you, but we will be all in the same class. I'm over 110kg so it means us heavier people need to hit the apexs harder.

FranZ
16-07-2013, 10:30 AM
More weight = more corner speed.

ED40
16-07-2013, 11:16 AM
lol Franz but you can't get to that same speed as a lighter person, to carry that corner speed in the first place!!

FranZ
16-07-2013, 11:50 AM
Seriously; the twin engines it doesnt matter so much. They restrict the karts with smaller seats etc (low numbered karts) to try and make it fair too.

ED40
16-07-2013, 12:06 PM
In my experience it does. Getting on the gas out of the corner before someone 40kg lighter than you and then they just pull away.. I've done the twins about 5 times and it's always happened.. unless I keep getting shit karts haha.

Should have something organised soon. Just wanted to have it outside of winter due to the low votes.

I think at the time of inquiry I needed a minimum of 10 for a group booking and with the votes there was around 30. Of which 19 wanted outdoor. My experience with staffing people for functions usually meant 50% would turn up. With the winter rain a possibility etc. I would of guessed 35 - 40% resulting not meeting in booking costs.

So now the stats are said for.... I'll sort something out soon.

Denver

There is a limit, if you weigh 3/5ths of fuckall you wont get the grip to keep corner speed up with the shit tyres they run, as Franz said

Anyway in my experience how you drive makes far more difference than what you weigh as to how quick you will be ;)

What size engine do the singles have?

Why can't we afford twins?

S85FI
29-09-2013, 11:02 AM
No idea what the engine sizes were. The single do about 70-80km/h. The twins about 100km/h. On the day you may be able to go to twin but thats up to the track people to decide that.

Reasons for single engine were based on the poll and affordability for all. The main reason is the deposit for a timed event. Twin engines = $500 non refundable deposit and I wasn't going to risk that with low poll.

It's not like Thailand where you can bin a kart into a wall, snap steering column and break steering rack and pay $50, get into another kart. Or bin kart into pit lane tyre wall, snap chain, get into another kart, nothing like that all is it Shannon/Tom ;)

[Jacek]

Can vouch for the "strictness" of Warrens' karts here, they do 3 strikes. Had a 1 practice, 3 races. Spun in the practice, then first lap of the first race. The rest of my 3 races were spent worrying about spinning instead of racing. 3 laps from the end of the last race i spun again. Had a great time

Was a fun day, sorry Z i bailed from the norfolk after 30min of driving around the block i decided to bail. Unfortunately my knee was pretty well farked after karting and could only hobble a short distance, was keen to meet a few of you as i have been around along time but havent participated in much socially out side of cruises. Probably was a bit soon for karting after knee surgery but was pretty chuffed with the days racing and some of you guys can peddle.

Thanks to everyone for riding the brake around every lap to give me an advantage.
Bailed on the Norfolk after struggling to find parking.

Look forward to defending my title next time!

Thanks for turning up fellas. Good to put more names to faces. Feed at Northfolk was great.
Parking. Try queensgate. Multi story, shaded or you can do a "I don't care 3 point Northfolk st" u turn...worked for me.

Will format results over the next few days and post up.

Did anyone get footage of the spin and kart pile up?

will start a new thread once i have spoken with warrens but it will be basically like this below.

We have 12 people keen so I will proceed with making the arrangements. Keep in mind the bare minimum to run these through warrens ultra-fast karts is 10 people.

Set up will be as follows:-
1 x 10 minute practice PLUS 3 x 6 lap races = The Midi Gran Prix

At Waneroo Kart Track, Cockburn Kart Track and the grand finally at Barbagello Raceway with the person with the most wins taking home the honour of the FCK Championship.

Cost is as follows:-
Cockburn Race - $100 Per Person
Waneroo Kart Track Race - $125 Per Person
Barbs Race - $150 Per Person

These are list prices and I will liase with Warrens to get some form of a discount as we will book the 3 races at the same time, at the moment I want people to commit to the full list price of $375 for the 3 meets, and any discount being a bonus.

Indicative dates are as follows:-
Waneroo Kart Track – weekend of the 18th/19th October
Cockburn Raceway – Weekend of the 15th/16th November

due to december christmas may push the championship ending round to january
