Built my computer in 09? 10? Intel 950 i7. Only thing I have upgraded is RAM as it died and a graphics card because I was bored and had some money. The system I built that was under 2k still powers through anything I can chuck at it without a problem and can run anything current on max settings, even with the old GPU and the CPU being 4 generations old. Take into account the amount of money I've saved on games as they are a lot cheaper than console ones (sometimes up to half price) and that argument is totally void.

I get preferences and all that, but considering you can run a PS3 or XBOX controller on your PC and have better graphics etc, why not?

You can buy an off the shelf build pc for the the same price of next gen consoles now a day which will run all the current games at good fps(60+)

LOL. No. Doesn't work like that for consoles mate, they MINIMIZE games DOWN to run on consoles. Why do you think the graphics always look like something off a VHS, stuff all depth, washed out colours, minimal objects and reduced effects. Consoles to throw on something like a racing sim or the like. Wouldn't go anywhere NEAR a console for first person shooter.

Yep... even what was a relatively high spec PC (say $2k) built in 2011 will out perform the current gen of consoles that are due for release at the end of the year.

FPS belong on PC, end of story.

Moved from PC ported to Console, to Console being ported to PC. Just have to look at some of the games nowadays. GTA, Crysis, Dead Island, BF, COD. Hell some of the games that were ported to PC they forgot to put a bloody cursor in for the mouse!

While this is now the norm there are always a few exceptions ArmA being one.

Moved from PC ported to Console, to Console being ported to PC. Just have to look at some of the games nowadays. GTA, Crysis, Dead Island, BF, COD. Hell some of the games that were ported to PC they forgot to put a bloody cursor in for the mouse!

While this is now the norm there are always a few exceptions ArmA being one.

Crysis, BF3 (and BF4), both PC games first and foremost. COD is a port because it is a money machine, not a game. The developers that know where their roots are and actually want to push things forward go all out on PC versions and then dumb it down for console. This tide is turning, though. COD getting higher res textures for PC because "next gen" consoles can't cope. This game coming to PC, also. Any developer worth their name wants to put out the best game possible and is seeing that PC is clearly where to be. Now that they can focus on making the best game possible then easily port it to console due to similar architecture is going to be the driving force imo.

Lots of games like Bioshock, skyrim, dishonoured (to list 3 of the best) were simultaneously released on all platforms. same game, completely different visual experience. And then there's the mods...

GTA is a poor example because have you see that shit on PC? depth of field you wouldn't fucking believe, mods that make every single car, frame building and detail look infinitely better than Gran turismo cinematic view on a PS3 can even render.

And BF lol... BF has always been PC first, that game is ported to consoles FROM PC. PS3 maps are missing heaps of detail, they look like piss and they even miss features like water towers etc... Not to mention the lack of 64 player on PS3...


PC > All if you have the cash and knowledge (or know pingpingpingpings on antilag who will help you design something like I did).
That said, I still own and will own consoles because GTA, GT5 etc are just more fun that way.


This game will rock on PC, no doubt! Though I think it will be arriving before the NBN hits my current location, which is a major bummer.

Ah don't think so. BF and most games are developed on PC because it's far easier to code and debug on a powerful machine and then scale back for a console. Besides next gen consoles are basically just average PC's and IMO one reason is that it will make it far easier for developers to create multiplatform games... on a PC.


Back on topic: Don't get too excited, just read that this is not due for release until Q4 of 2014! Over a year away by the looks of things.

Video card was upgraded last year. As FPS on the latest games was making the PC chug a bit I bit the bullet 3 months ago and upgraded the motherboard, CPU and memory only along with a water cooler for the CPU.

You buy cheap of course it's only going to last a year or two.

And PC hands down for FPS. So damn annoying on a console and no keyboard!
