suprisingly no Kanye beats - not suprisingly no Kanye lyrics according to Wiki

mind you, wiki also didn't list Nas on BBC - DOPE!

To be honest, it was boring, nothing sticks out as an amazing track, it's monotone across the board.
There is an amazing lack of energy in Rap these days, and to say it's a good album speaks volumes for what people get out of music these days.
It should be inspirational, well to me this was, it made me want to slit my wrists, like listening to Triple J really :)

Sumsang buying 1m copies for release shouldn't count as album sales. fans hanidng over cash should be the only sales figures that count.

Kanye hasn't made beats in a long time. John Legend spoke about it in a recent interview.

I wasn't aware that Kanye wrote for Jay Z? what tracks did he write?

You need to look elsewhere other than mainstream hip hop of you want to find raw energy from MC's.

But if you're drawn toward the maistream.

Kendrick - Good kid, maad city. BANGER!
J.Cole - Born Sinner
Nas - Life is good.

These two alone were huge!

Soundscan changed the rules for this album....digital sales vs CD's....previously digital sales would only be counted 30 days after album release (stupid in 2013...especially with all these folk and their itunes)....now they count up front....a sale is a sale regardless of the format...you think record companies haven't bought up their own product in the past to skew the 1st week figures? its basically the same thing....he sold his album, in bulk, to a company (who handed over 5million for it...cash sale) for their users to consume - fucking boss move IMO

i meant Kanye doing a verse...as if Hov would let that retard try and write his shit...as for him not doing beats, didn't he just drop an album? are you trying to tell me that ego maniac ain't rapping on his own shit? i would be very surprised if true...watch the throne he managed to jack beats and call them his own so i see your point

paying homage and biting are two very different things

"I'm not a biter, I'm a writer for myself and others
I say a B.I.G. verse, I'm only Bigging up my brother
Bigging up my borough --I'm big enough to do it"

Listened to a couple tracks as net hasn't been great overseas at the moment - seems like the same recycled stuff every time so far... Lambos, Millions, Ballin', Black Card, Shopping. UHHHHHH. UHHHHHH. UHHHHHH.

Hoping there's a couple stand out tracks that are decent though!

Much better album than KanYe's piece of shit though, will try give it a proper listen.

To quote a friend; "album all about riding his own dick." LOL

Hey don't get me wrong, smart move on his behalf. It will definitely open up the door for more artists todo it and hopefully push the envelope to get more creative with Album releases.

I remember reading somewhere that they weren't touching each others projects because of the recent colabs.

Yeezus & Beats - John Legend came out and said for the most part he doesn't create beats anymore due to the young talent coming through, he sits back and produces.
Another interesting fact about Yeezus. 2 days prior to having submit the record to the label. Kanye laid down lyrics for 3 songs and vocals for 5 others in the space of 2 hours. Reading that kinda explains the shitty lyrical content of the album.

The above is why I pay more attention to Indie Hip Hop vs.Commercial. The big guys are worrying about making more money and staying relevant money whilst the younger guys are hungry to make a name with good music.

shots at Lil Wayne - i now officially fucking love this album :)

Wanna kidnap wifey, Good luck with that bruh, You must gonna hide your whole family, What you think we wearing black for, Ready for that war, Ready for that war ready, You ain't ready, yo, you radio

stems from liks on Watch The Throne:

I'm like, 'Really, half-a-billi?'/ N***a, really, you got baby money/ Keep it real with n***as, n***as ain't got my lady money

to which Wayne responded:

Talkin' 'bout baby money/ I got your baby money/ Kidnap your b***h/ Get that 'how much you love your lady?' money

Finally downloaded and had a proper listen a couple of times through the whole thing.

It's pretty average, much like most of his stuff since the Black Album. Can't blame him really, he's got it all at this point, but it doesn't really translate into anything worth listening to. His best stuff in recent times has been directly related to Kanye, and without him on this, standouts are hard to find.

I've gone through Yeezus close to 50 times now, and it just gets more and more impressive each listen. It's going to be tough to find a reason to go back to this.

If you want something worth listening to, try Run The Jewels. http://foolsgoldrecs.com/runthejewels/

It's been a huge couple of months for releases though, with a few big ones still to come.

Magna Carta > Yeezus.

Yeezus is just, weird. Magna Carta is proper showboating East Coast hip hop. Feels good man.
