Hey all.

Just bought a new rad for the mrs ve and last night when I eventually removed all 8 connections and the shroud it finally came out (the front end was damaged so no front panels including rad support are still on, making it easier).

I went to put the new radiator on not thinking properly and the two 13mm bolts on the bottom at the back looked like they could be removed and I was going to put the existing ones attached to the line on (not realizing how easy they clip off).
When I removed them there's a metal box inside the rad with two threaded holes, it dropped and now I can't lift it high enough to catch the threads again.

What I was wondering is, is this an oil coiled line because it looks that way (I can't tell because there's almost no fluid in the lines and the rest dropped on the ground when the car took a knock.

If it is oil can I just by pass this aspect for now or is it important ??

Any help would be great thanks guys!

I'm assuming transmission oil cooling . Is it really necessary in these at the moment while I work on it.
Can I just slap an oil cooler on it or do the radiator holes need plugging.

fail, the tank will have to come of, even if you get it to line back up again chances are the orings that seal the oil cooler to the tank have fallen off or will get pinched as you tighten it back up again. What did you pay for the new one?? that will tell me if its worth fixing or getting another new one.

The trans lines disconnect where the plastic hoops are, slide the hoop back and it exposes the clip which you pry off with a pick or tiny screwdriver.

As said the seals may be farked now, best to remove the radiator again to inspect properly.

Top tip. Put the clips in the radiator before you install it. Once radiator is fitted simply clip A/T lines in.

You can install an oil cooler and leave the trans cooler lines disconnected but all the seals still need to be intact ie radiator nuts and cooler seals.

Unfortunatly a rookie mistake but will now also leak coolant.

Cheers for the help guys . Got it all back on but one orings obviously dropped out or pinched as said . Ill be just installing a cheap oil cooler it will be much easier than replacing whole radiator because of it..
