Funny enough a few years later one was stood down as he was involved in the KKK run past a speed camera in a unmarked police car . Bed sheets and plates covered up doing well over the limit , Legend status for sure :)

I remember it farking well - I lived on the corner of Britain and Underwood St in those days near the Bussell Hotel
At about the 1:18 mark you hear reference to Graham Clark - he was a youngster from Chris Mills shop back then, but he is now a Busso resident(owns Video Easy in Busselton) - that man is a guru on blown meth cars these days and is an under utilized resource down here - cheers for the footage
I remember the KKK incident - was funny as fuck.

There was a 1/4 mile drag event using the driveway to Sandleford Winery back about 10 years or so ago. Stinking hot day. I had entered, then busted my gearbox in a Max Action khana a couple weeks before. Sigh...
I also remember Paul Blank (AEM) trying to organise 1/4 mile event Parry Lakes. Dunno how that was gonna work. I drove through there (slowly!) for a look see and couldn't see 200 k's being a good idea. Never happened, not surprised.
Closest you'll get to waterfront drag action is Targa West on Riverside drive, Sunday 18th August. Which I've nabbed an entry for again - woo hoo! If we could get them to move a couple of the chicanes you'd see some good speed. Last year was limiter bashing 4th through the Plain St lights (210 - 215 ks). This year they've changed it a bit so can't see me getting to 200. Others may however...

Newman had a similar event mid/late 90s in the industrial area before moving to the airport. http://www.newmandrags.org.au/Default.htm

Wyalcatchem street drags
In the early days of the Speed event series we had a sprint through the streets of Wylie
The locals got to have runs in a 1/8 mile through the center of town

Bunno used to have a Rally Oz Special Stages run through town - in the group A days. You dont happen to have any footage of the Lancia's etc around the old silos?
Now all you get is shit coffee shops and middle aged bike-ists.

I inquired about bringing this back with council at a Racewars planning meeting a while back. Most people like the idea except for this one whingy old biddy with nothing to do other than cause hell. As such no deal :( ... Yet... ;)

That is most likely the same old biddy that got us canned from town
Majority of the locals loved it just a few opposed

Maybe one day as we'll keep ticking along with it but for now we're lucky that we've been given access to a pretty decent strip in Wylie.
