So ages ago there was a video most of you probably saw with extremely detailed simulated car crashes and so on. Well, the people that made that have opened up the alpha of that program and a free tech demo for people to mess around with.

I haven't tried it yet but it looks like a pretty sweet thing to screw around in for a little while. Reports are it's a bit buggy and stuff but it's still really early in its development, and the tech demo is free so whatever.

(Interesting crashes start around 2:15)

It's not exclusively crashes either, the driving uses the actual physics of the sim which is apparently fun (?)

Alpha buy-in ($17) (https://sites.fastspring.com/beamng/instant/alpha)
Wiki (http://wiki.beamng.com/)
Control info from wiki. (http://wiki.beamng.com/Playing) 360 controller recommended, will also support other controllers (Logitech G25 example in the wiki)

Does it simulate pedestrian vs car accidents?

If so, I'll let Running On Empty know about it.. great training simulator for them.

is this the one with the ute flipping etc? no textures just had it showing the collision stuff... if so fuck yesss. feels like years since the first one came out. Think it was running on the crytek engine? or what ever crysis ran on

Had a play this afternoon and it's good fun for a while, definitely need multiplayer or something.

Make sure you check out the controls on that wiki, there's a lot more to it than just the driving controls, you can add and remove parts of the car, suspension, diffs etc. and things like alt + down is slow mo for good crash viewing.

Haven't heard anything about 360 but there's no way the alpha will be on it as it's a nightmare to get anything on the system.
