iirc the IX bov is not metal like the 8MR.. Otherwise i 'upgraded' mine for nothing in the IX... :D

interesting, ive never really looked into it myself was more word of mouth, thankfully I ended up with an 8 mr unit anyway, sound is far better then GFB gayness
