Gday, I have an s14 with stock front rear brakes, in the front I have Ferodo ds2500 and in the rear just a standard replacement pad. On the track it feels like it brakes fine, but the rear brakes are getting very hot. when I pull in after a few laps the fronts are hot, but the brakes are a shitload hotter.
I will also go through a whole set of rear pads at a track night. this seams to be some very quick wear to me. The BMC is just a stocker as well, and I thought that they were meant to have a really crappy bias with nearly all of it going to the front of the car. Does anyone know why This might be happening.
thanks
Dan

Have you checked that the pad are not constantly touching the disc? might be worth pulling the callipers off, greasing up all the slides and giving it a good bleed up as well. DS2500's are awesome pads and quiet harsh so maybe some better quality rotors are needed over OEM too. Id start with the first idea though

If they are touching , what gap should he set them at ?

Your rear brakes will never get Hot again, you should also see significantly better pad life.

Have you changed the rear pads before? Sounds like a sticky piston on the rear, if you have changed it before, you will notice the pistons are harder to wind back so they are "grabbing" on the rotor even though no pressure is applied

Not familiar with those rears does the handbrake operate the piston? May be overadjusted causing them to drag.

Sounds like what your talking about ichi go. I have gone through a set of pads every track day three times running. The brakes are single pots, so I can't stop them rubbing but the caliper slides nicely and is greased up.the piston was slightly difficult to push back in so it may be sticking. But the other side was easy and that's worn through to. I think I'll just get some skyline rears.

Will do it all the time not just at the track .

Try using the same compound pad all round ..

Would be both sticky pistons if going through a whole set - unlikely

When was the last time you bled the system properly?

Apparently it's a common issue with 13/14's

Yeh i only really drive the car at the track. I have changed pads twice and bleed them before every track day. only one side is a little bit stiff when pushing the piston(twisting) back in to get the pads in. the other is fine. handbrake is relatively loose as well.
I have read that the BMC on s14s is shit, and has nearly no rear bias. that's why im surprised that it is wearing through them so fast. Im not willing to spend the money on ds2500s for the rear to see if they wear that quickly. may as well buy twin pots for the back instead.

lol bart you troll. you know what I mean. the slides on the calliper could be seized so always applying pressure between the pad and the disc...
