bought & fitted a pulley today.

went to 3 places to try & find a belt the correct length tho - had to end up using the rooted one, because at least it provided the correct tension, so the search for that continues.

the car needs a new fuel pump fitted (car wont start on petrol, but will on lpg) - anyone got any recommendations for a workshop near Rocky that can do this & an idea of labor involed?

thanks

When was the last time it ran on Petrol? Does the LPG system start on Petrol then change over?

its not my car, so i dont know much about it, but yes It normally starts on petrol then switches over to gas - not sure if automatically or not.

last friday it started fine, they drove it around ok then parked it. Later that night it wouldn't start - so I assume the fuel pump died after it started that day.

i suppose i need to check the pump is working or not, but not sure how to

(does it have plenty petrol in the tank?)

You should be able to hear the pump prime the fuel system when the key is switch on. it shoudl run for 4 or 5 seconds. Lay on the ground near the tank and get somebody to switch the key to run. If you don't hear it prime give the tank a belt and see if it runs when you repeat the key on cycle.

When the pump have a few K's on them the brushes wear down and can stick in the holders so the pump doesn't run. If it runs after giving it a belt it's a pretty safe bet the pump is cactus.
