View Full Version : Whats the diff?

I'll be on the hunt this week for some complete diff setups, must be coil sprung and preferably 5 link. Looking to pickup the whole lot, disc to disc with all the control arms, springs, shocks etc etc

Was going to head out looking for GQ diffs but already im getting the feeling that people want crack money for them.. will only have a ecotec on the other end and will probably never run anything larger than a 35. Need the option to lock them also, be it mechanical or welded (rear) or factory air locked.. cant see me splurging on aftermarket air lockers for a hack car.

Would the Dana diffs and axles from the jeeps be a viable option? can grab a whole Cherokee for the same price as a GQ diff and someone just mentioned they are a divorced transfare case aswell.. anyone confirm?? will these take abuse? Sand driving will lead to massive amounts of right foot for hours on end but those 4.0 seem to have a shit ton of power and the only failures I ever see are the motor overheating or general electrical problems.

Factory front track is 1500mm, while the rear is 1450.. so most will "fit" without being too silly

Also, hydraulic steer seems.. in theory to eliminate a shit load of problems when doing an axle conversion, anyone had experiences? $$?

hydraulic steer is expensive and i'm 99% sure illegal for on road use.
