[30 Aug] Antilag Supercruise #4 - Collie Motorplex

Next Supercruise announced :)

Plenty of time to get your cars ready, so no excuses this time round ;)
As far as I'm aware, it's still the only event in WA where you can take your friends out in your car for hot-laps around a track!

Also, timing these days isn't much of an issue due to things like Harry's Lap Timer and the Racelogic boxes, so if you want to do times you can easily record them yourself.

The event will be as follows:

Location: Collie Motorplex
Date: Saturday, 30th August, 2014.
Format: Untimed Laps and Cruise Sessions
Requirements: Valid Drivers Licence, Fire Extinguisher, Helmet, Long shirt and pants, Enclosed shoes.
Price: $155 for ALM members ($185 for non ALM)

Event Schedule:
8am - Scrutineering and Sign on
9am - Fast Laps (6 cars at a time)
Midday - Lunch Break, burnout pit open to anyone who wants to do burnouts.
1pm - Cruise Session (Open to all cars)
3:30pm - Fast Laps
5pm - End.


Fast Laps:
These will be run with the following format - 1 out lap, 3 flying laps, 1 in lap. 6 cars out at a time.
We recommend installing a timing app on your smartphone (Harry's Lap Timer works well down there)


Cruise Sessions:
We will have ~15 cars out at a time. You will be permitted to do the following:
Roll-on Drag Race
Powerskids
Rolling Burnouts


You will not be allowed to do a standing-still burnout (if we see you on the brake and stationary, you will be kicked out immediately), nor will you be allowed to drift at any stage. This is not negotiable.

To enter, simply transfer $155 (ALM) / $185 into the account below and use your username as the referral with "SC4" as the preface. For example, mine would be "SC4-Brockas".

Phone Rohan at West hire(08) 9383 7609 , I grab his car trailer which is excellent broke back mountain. Tows well and is reasonably priced. No problems with taking out of metro.

you could tow it backwards which should help with getting it on and off the trailer, but you run the risk of smashing the rear window. Hire a break back and then buy some ramps or planks of wood. Gives you the extra height needed to protect the front lip and will get the trailer to tilt earlier

Don't load the car on the trailer backwards,

It puts the weight behind the axle line off the trailer and makes the a lot more unpredictable to tow, I have see one car tbeing towed like this end up in the trees after the trailer got a sway on

Trying something called cool carbon brakes from the US. ~$150 compared to the $450 factory ones.
Also will try the motol fluid 300c rating to see if I get fade first or spongy pedal.

I have not heard good things about Cool Carbons. Apparently they are OK for a low dust street pad but definitely not suitable to track or even hard driving on the road.

Awesome day Brockas. Thanks again for organising these events.

Piss off for me were Carbon Cool performance pads. Lasted 8 laps. Great for the first 5 then down hill fast after that. Gald I bought down the factory pads... they worked but took a bit to get the burn out right again. Kept stalling the car with a the slightest touch of the pedal.

Highlight was when passenger in the white M3 and we lost it on one of the corners and spun around. Just at that point his wife wondered why he was in reverse going backwards. His quick thinking made told his misses he just finished the "reverse part of the track time"

He'll be back for the next one Brockas along with another blown VE.

Oh yeh, had to convince the girls it would be funny but not so funny at the track to say "Hi Paul, Thanks for last night - sure look different with clothes on"

Great weekend, thanks to Brockas and vollie's.

Jez's car = fog machine
Rich's supra, epic, passenger in that skid run, so good!

Enjoyed seeing a variety of cars on the track, rain held off and at one point had the track to myself.

Car drove down, ran faultlessly and clocked 40 odd laps, and drove home again, Honda FTW.
Set a PB of 55.95, not bad for street tyres and ~150whp

1st time at a supercruise, had a awesome time, will be there next time.

Kyle_340 when you started your car at the end, i knew that sound well. Many rocker arms/ pivot points broken by me.
Had a spare one in the toolbox, would of given it to you if i had known. Good old sr20!

Awesome day for my first track day,and thanks Paul for organising it.I was envious of some of the high quality driving skills being displayed by alot of drivers.Made me realise i have alot to learn,but ive got to start somewhere right.As my goal was this and to get used to my new car,i had fun regardless.Next track day i will ensure i have more than 9 hours combined sleep on the two nights before also lol

Yeah harness seems to work pretty well, passengers not being violently tossed around anymore haha, was pretty surprised with the time as well. Think i got that time when i was trying my hardest to keep up with JME's evo haha

First time at Collie and had an absolute blast, nearly binning the car into a tire wall made me shit my pants haha. After going off the track into the mud/dirt I thought I had gotten all the rocks and sand out but turns out I didn't and need new discs and pads all around. i also managed to boil my brake fluid a few times due to not enough heat shielding near my brake master cylinder, I bled it a few times and managed to do one decent skid before the brake were non functional.

Looking forward to the next one.
