Did a quick search on here and didn't yield much.
I have everything else with Shannons car wise so tried that first - they won't touch learners and will only insure open license held for a minimum of 1-2 years (apparently).
Swann seem to have an ok price ($41 a month, or $47 with rating protection) and cover helmet and riding gear. They also have a minimum value to insure for so won't insure for less than that, eg. 2009 Ninja @ $4k.
I'm guessing most are with Shannons, anyone dealt with Swann and can attest to them being good? Haven't dealt with them previously myself.
Kind regards,
Paul

Have had 2 claims with Swann. Awesome to deal with. The only hold up I had was getting Husqvarna parts out of QLD during the floods which is hardly their fault, but I'm pretty sure my premiums could have covered a rental dinghy to get in there.

I had my old road bike and my current moto with Swann. No claims, but I've always received prompt phone service which is a good thing in my eyes. Not a fan of 30+ mins wait time.

Insure My Ride offer decent cover including mods and gear
Shannons are pretty strict on the no learners or fresh riders thing, even a long term employee couldnt get covered on a 250.

Anyone dealt with claims through insure my ride though?
QBE doesn't seem too bad. $459 for $2,500. Will have to compare both quotes properly though. Excess for QBE is $1300 due to age/experience. Not sure what Swann has.
Swann's minimum value of $4k is enticing too though.

Insure my ride use the same assessor as Shannons.
Mate had a claim with Insure my ride and they there good to deal with and he had no problems. He even bought the bike off them as a repairable write off
I am with Shannons they are good, agreed value, choice of repairer etc however the only thing i don't like is that there gear cover is limited at $1000 per item, meaning for most high end helmets and suits you are out of pocket

Had two bikes with Swan insurance about 5 years ago, they were both stolen and swan refused to pay out. Got shafted
Used QBE on all my road bikes and never had a problem
Started using insure my ride on my dirtbikes and they were brilliant

make sure you read the conditions of the policy etc, you may find the bike has to be kept in a garage or its invalid if bike is stolen from home

I shopped around for my insurance, being a learner made it a little more painful. I couldn't get insurance through shannons being under 25 and I didn't know about swann insurance at the time.
I went with suncorp as they offered me the best deal out of everyone I got quotes from.

Might have a look at QBE and insure my ride for the time being, seeing the reviews from Swann don't seem too appealing!
IMR seems good - $411 for a year.
Bit cheaper than QBE for the premium, but higher agreed value. Might be the goer!
