It looks like it will be quite entertaining but early "beta" reports suggest its fairly repeatative.
The only issue im worried about is the need for a constant online connection, my wifi in baldivis is far from perfect for online gaming...

I never bothered with titanfall due to the constant online thing, however im hoping that because destiny is co-op the 40-90ms ping and poor upload speed wont bother me to much... It destroyed me on killzone deathmatches on saturday

I wish... Killzone was very hard... It would take a full clip or a good 2-3second burst of fire to kill an opponent... 80ms ping 0.122mbps upload..

not that game time really matters anyways. the amount of shit pingpingpingpings I've seen who've played well over 1000hrs for any game is silly...so much time spent, yet they suck still.

I cbf explaining why *I* didn't like it as I've explained it far too often, but screw DICE and their clunky, cumbersome game mechanics, boring gameplay which is filled with noobs...ffs, I can't even play BC2 anymore as I've been banned from the last remaining servers, I hate my life.

I blame COD, and now DICE for the shit lacking in quality FPS titles...it's no longer FPS games, it's Fast Food Gaming...they come out quick, new releases every 6-12months or whatever, shit quality. Thoroughly miss the days of 1999-2010 Q3 (OSP/CPMA 1v1, TDM, CTF) and CS to an extent.

Chose Hunter, got level 6 or something, wasn't bad. Keen for some raids later on. Hopefully they do some massive scale ones, like 10-25 people

Unfortunately the games are just designed to get the kids in to sell the games and the people who actually play it for the gameplay get left with the pile or shit. COD BF and forza are all going to shit. Lets hope project cars is as epic as it looks.

Back on topic, thought about picking it up, whats it like ? All about the "bling" flashy perks attachments etc or is it relatively balanced and actually requires being a good shot to get anywhere ?

Its not to bad, nearly level 10 hunter now... Some things are seeming a tad repeatative.. I think if you were playing with mates you wouldnt care as much... You do manage to find some good gear, its easy to waste time doing the same parts of maps to collect bounties or just level up.

most over-hyped game of the year? Yeah, quite possibly, mainly by the HUGE advertising campaign and many consumers.

Good luck going for 10 years with this Bungie, unless significant changes are made/added...I'm no MMO person...but I know that WoW has lasted so long as it's addictive and as per the name, IT'S MASSIVE...I really don't see anything addictive about this console shooter. MMO's have never been my thing due to the constant and repetitive nature, the games don't really need that much skill compared to lets say other online competitive games such as SC, but involve mostly time and lots of it.

I do think a lot of the game reviewers, who I usually don't take much notice of as they're all shit-pingpingpingpings anyways, are being a tad-harsh on Destiny though. They're expecting too much. It feels similar to borderlands, which I got bored of very quickly - and I don't get bored that easily (depending on whether the game is challenging and has a competitive community ie: comps etc).

From what I can gather, it's an overly ambitious game, it's just another run of the mill FPS with minor bells and whistles added. If not for the co-op and 'difficulty' of some missions, it doesn't have much going for it - I do enjoy shooters and ones that involve long battles with strong enemies or bosses...but I dunno how much longer I can keep that up for, fucking controllers are so clunky and I'm having hand cramps.

I am enjoying Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition more though, having not played this before (or any Diablo game, or many dungeon crawlers), and being able to play on hard difficulty is quite fun! (instead of having to play on EASY upon first release)

I only just picked this up yesterday... what are these raids you speak of? Different section of the game, or when you're playing the story do they pop-up?

They unlock once your level 20 I think. Pretty sure they require 6 players, have no matchmaking and apparently take a few hours to complete. Can still do story missions/strikes with a 3 man fire team tho.

Yeah I tried the level 26 raid on venus, crazy hard.
you need 6 players, arent gonna do it with any less. First part of the mission requires you to hold down 3 zones at the same time while being atacked by vex, so you need 2 people in each zone

well that was pretty awesome.

got the gates to the raid open, easy enough.
not long after theres a difficult boss fight, took us multiple attempts but managed it.
then went down to the next area, going into this huge open cavern. pretty awesome scenery. then we got to the maze, which is fucking awesome and a really unique gaming experience. weapons aren't needed, as you just have to get your way through it without being seen. harpy-like vex patrol it, and if they see you, the whole team dies. pretty intense when you get a glimpse of one, turn around to hide behind a rock, then watch in fear as it patrols straight past you without noticing you haha.

10/10 would bang, looking forward to future raids.

that took about 2 hours, and we're just scratching the surface of it. good thing it saves your checkpoint so you dont have to start again each time, but only if you play with the same team

D3 has almost guaranteed leg drops for greater rift runs.

Borderlands had guaranteed purple drop when you kill the uber bosses.

yeah its a bit of grind getting from level 20 to 25+ to start playing the real game, but once you do the challenge of the raid and nightfall strikes is good fun.

Completed the raid twice on normal and once on hard with a group of randoms (was just randomly invited once and ended up doing the raid a few times with the same guys) and hit level 30 with 10+ exotic weapons so not much left to do until the expansion drops

you can blame Microsoft for that, they really threw their weigh around with "exclusive content" bs on the last gen of consoles and now Sony has responded. Only going to get worse from here as Sony and Microsoft duke it out.

It's hurting the consumer though to be honest, I mean we are all buying it for one thing and one thing only, the games. Fuck what all the fan boys have to say. If there are differences in the consoles they are miniscule. I'm not a big console player, I prefer PC but that's what I have become accustom to. This whole SONY vs XBOX choose a side thing needs to stop. It's just plain childish. Give the consumer what they want and keep them happy and they'll come back time and time again, add all this shit in like additional DLC and season passes and microtransactions and the problems begin.

not sure how the consoles ended up on the road they are on, intense competition is usually good for the consumer but somehow the competition seems to be bad for consumers and the corporations in the console wars right now. the only winners are the AAA game developers who are being thrown wads of cash by sony and microsoft to promise exclusivity.

because all parties are playing the same game the consumer is left with little choice (except wii but what kind of choice is that), most gamers just have a little whinge, cop it on the chin and cough up (somewhat ashamed to say that includes me)
