Can get away without using special tools it seems, I'll be using this when I get H&R springs, apparently the goods and progressive.

Give Ktec a call, flick them an email or go see them in person. Mention Cam sent you and they will look after you.
I have a feeling they will recommend KW springs, and for good reason.

Buy H&R springs from Orange Tuning. Cheap - like $250 cheap. Sports are about 25 mm, Supersports are about 50 mm I think. If you want to retain ride comfort go Sports.
Then try to find someone who doesn't charge an arm and a leg to fit. Seems the going rate in Perth is around $400 to $500.

This. He works on VW and Audi all the time.
Also H&R from Orange tuning or from Rennenhaus over east.

Rennenhaus is the same price for locally supplied H&R's for me, I save about 70 bucks if I get ex east on Ebay, The Jetta seems to be a bit cheaper again, Lucky bastard :)

Eibach pro kit for moderate lowering, sport for a deeper drop.

I bought my KW from these guys and delivery was free. Takes the sting out of an install.
Doesn't look that hard to do:

Yep
Whenever I gave someone a quote and they asked for cash price, I removed the GST and that was it, your time isn't worth any less because you aren't declaring it to the tax department.
But in regards to this, totally different unless he's taking it to a workshop and the mechanic is doing it off the books.

That's what fucks the system " my mate paid a guy a block of export to do his car , $500 is a fucking ripoff " .
First quote was 500 dollars to fit 250 dollar springs - understand it takes time but quote also says 2-3 hours to do - so I am paying 250 an hour?
Fuck that son

I got quoted $1100 + GST to supply and fit some H&R's to the A4 at an unnamed suspension workshop in Malaga that specialises in H&R.

+ Rent
+ Insurance
+ Operational Expenses
+ Wages
+ Superannuation
The list goes on.
Seriously just do it yourself.

They quoted me $935 for the same.

Now that I would arc up for fitment only.

Huh?!? What about the saving on company and/or income tax or do you just run a business that doesn't make a profit?

Cash price to lot of businesses now days is retail (Inc GST), without receipt.

$500 to have your car professionally lowered is cheap man - just do it and stop being a tight pingpingpingping.

$100 a corner, especially when you have a workshop with a hoist and tools, still more than $100/hr, that's a fair price I reckon, also what I got quoted from Malaga, minus supply spring price.

If you don't declare it to the tax department, you don't need to pay gst, company tax, the difference between 30% and your marginal income tax rate.
So you should be able to give a discount of much more than 10% and net the same amount.

Here a labour only job may come around once a month and its usually for a small amount that might cover a few cartons , most people will have me supply and fit as I charge for down time if parts are wrong and the car is on my hoist in bits and almost every body wants a receipt so they can " claim " it at tax time ..

In the past everyone wants stupid cheap discounts for cash, they usually supply their own shit products and want way more done that originally asked. People thinks cash means they can get shit near on free and get all the benefits of a proper charged job with warranty etc, I'd rather not deal with the hassle, hence the price, actually easier to go on the books, that way if you get into trouble, you have more avenues for protection.
Feel free to go offer a few warm beers next time you hit your mechanic up for some work because they aren't putting it on the books :)

I understood where he was coming from, my comment was from more of a 'generally speaking angle'.
This is coming from someone that has seen individuals invoice people 'plus GST', that aren't even registered in the first place.
