So, planned on making it along to the last one, but went car shopping instead. Planning on making it along tomorrow however. Finally cleaned off all the rubber and crap plastered all over car from W'roo a month back, so running out of excuses. Anyways, could always try to get in with the daily and see how tolerant they really are! Yeah, I'm a gunna...but shows are not my thing normally.

3:30 - 7:30 pm at Midvale Speed Dome. Should hopefully be some cool cars out to look at. Come say hello if you feel like a Sunday arvo car perv. I'll be the one as far away from my car as possible so good luck with that.

Cool. I'll be green with envy! Would love my old S2 back in the shed if I had the time and money to keep it.

Probably on their Event Facebook Page.

Considering the event runs till 7:30 it might be a bit of a wait till the photos are uploaded.

Was good to see a few nice cars coming out.

Pity that they were outnumbered 3 to 1 by yolo plastidipped cars.. That SV6 "Rumble bee" was fucking hideous.

Its a shame it didn't stay in Freo, it helped keep some of the yolo swaggers away because of the early start, they were far to busy recovering from shelving pingaz the night before.

I dont think the event needed to grown to be honest, keeping it in Freo and limiting the cars was good, meant on the cream of each class of car showed up.

No, and i understand this, BUT, i don't think turning a profit is the right thing to do, i feel a quality experience is what should be the key focus, if some people miss out so be it. In saying this, no, i couldn't do a better job and no im not having a go at the CCC team, they have done an amazing job, just saying i liked the Freo version much better.

Agreed, but everywhere else it seems to be an unspoken rule you dont just bring shitters.

That's exactly what was great about Freo.. Good atmosphere, in a good iconic location that like minded car people could attend and enjoy...

It's now just become a money spinner.. pack in as many cars as you can.. I read they are also asking for rides, and other vendors to apply to join in...

I too enjoyed the freo version much better.. I won't be going back to the new location again.. It's gone too far away from it's original intended roots..

Would have been keen for a look, but feel the Golf just isn't the calibre of car for these events, so stayed home in the Air con.
I have no issue with not going due to my car.

Why not just park in the general spectators area then.. just walk through.

tinto

Huh? I didn't think it was an obligation to drive something special just to have an ogle.

Don't you just park somewhere that isn't on display and pay a different rate?
These should be early morning so you can have a normal day afterwards.
Afternoon is horse shit.

This, but where do you draw the line?

I sat there watching the man at the roundabout judge and direct cars to either spectator or "show quality"! Some were surely offended when they realised they were sent to spectator parking and turned around to have a word!

This is not what CC&C is meant to be all about.

Yet there were still shitters in the 'show area'

I saw a very standard Magna quite a few old standard Datsuns that were full of rot. Most cars in there were of a good standard

Yeah, we were commenting on the rusty old Dattos at the time as they came in!

I'm not a regular, so dunno what it's supposed to be all about, but having 'spectated' at one and 'entered' at another now, I know it's low stress, cheap and easy way to go spend a couple of hours on a Sunday car perving. And that's all it needs to be really. So long as the cars are not what you see packing out the fwy or carparks (same, same) every day, then that's alright with me.

I parked up, abandoned car, caught up with a few people and had a good time. That'll do me thanks. Though I did start to get itchy and want to do some runs around the roads there...memories of many a Classic Rally superkhanana!

Gold coin to spectate and $5 to put your car on display

It is now a business not just a casual meet up like it was in Freo, part of the new location was that they had to have Public Liability insurance, Toilets, Security

Oh, and the S2 of your mate Phil, mmmmm. Nice! Tell him to man up and get it out doing some events. Looks good stationary, but I think we can all agree it would look much better popping flames and sideways in 2nd at 8000.

Surely i cant be the only person who realises their own car is a shitter, my chaser was clean...when the previous owner has it, ive made it a shitter, yes its sad but its true and im the first person to tell you! ffs its not hard to stand back and be like "you know what, maybe my ziptied and plastidipped pile isnt a show car"
I also think the new venue choice is less than fitting for the event, wont be going again.

Just about ready, he has just got a new diff casing so he can fit the adjustable watts linkage then it is a set of tyres away from sprints

I have only been along once and that was at the 2nd last time at Freo, I thought the event was awesome very laid back and cruisey. Plus everyone was packed up and done by about 10ish.

By the sounds of it the event has lost its intended purpose, i doubt i'll bother attending at the new location.

See i used to go every single time in Freo, at first didnt see the issue with the move and understood that the events grown and welcomed the change but its now charging money just to look and i dont feel the enough of the vehicles are at a standard where a fee should be charged, ive been to the new venue a few times and sadly wont be going back.

People are forgetting that a "rusty old Datto" is still someones pride and joy.

I appreciate all types of cars and spent the same amount of time looking at that sticker bombed GTti Charade and the Avendator!

Whilst walking around some of the comments that people made about someones pride and joy made me cringe.

Coffee & Car's in Irvine also used to complain about masses of shitboxes and stockers rocking up to the meets. Although their definition of boring shitbox's were fleets of stockish M5 and AMG's...

Perth's car scene in reality fails hard both in terms of number of engaged people and as a result the "quality" and diversity of the scene is not where we tend to think it is. This isn't a dig it's fact. One thing I will give CCC is that they've managed to string together one of the best events that engage what I think is the widest cross section of any "car event" in WA. They've hit pretty much every part of the scene and drawn solid repeated attendance from pretty much every group out there. Sadly in Perth that means all the yolobunky Falcoondores want to come play to and given there's not sufficient numbers from other groups to squeeze this demographic that everyone seems to piss and moan about out they get involved. It's is near on impossible to run a large scale event of any type without getting this demographic involved.

I do agree that the Freo meets were awesome and that CCC isn't what it used to be but it was never going to last as it was, as soon as it got too big to be a small casual event it had to change and that change was always going wind up with Jason commercializing it if for no other reason than to get the revenue to cover his exposure to the risk posed in running such an event.

The answer here to not to stop supporting the event because there's too many horrid looking SV6's but to try and squeeze out the stuff you don't like by supporting and attending the event yourself. Same argument I've had with people about Motorvation of late... Don't like the Commodores - enter something better so they don't have to accept a fleet of barely tuned mangwagons just to make ends meet or accept they're keeping the event viable.

personally i went to a few at Freo and once at Midvale.
has definitely lost some of the charisma that freo had, cruise down the coast and early summer morning then head off for your day.
Cars were of pretty much top quality, and was free to was nice to head down and take a look and some pics.

Midvale isnt exactly a place with charisma, can see why they moved there as its controllable.
Quality did drop off since every man and his dog goes on display.

As for the charging, be interested to know what their outgoings are vs their takings - it does seem like its a bit more commercially motivated these days.
Sponsors, vendors, charging entry for showing and spectating etc may be a bit much.

Parking as a spectator was a bit of pain too, i guess when its only $3 more to enter people would do that rather than park miles away then trapse in.

I might go to one a year now, does seem to be pretty much the same cars each time, and as far as people well i'm not very sociable most of the time so thats not a huge drawcard for me :)

Been to every event since either April or May, can't recall. Since the move to Midvale, the event has lost a little of its spark, however that does not mean the event is a bore. From what I heard from the organisers after a 10 minute chat on the way out, they are *possibly* considering another move at some point to cater for an even larger crowd, and something with a little more 'edge' than the current venue. It is still a big maybe, but the fact that it is being considered is a good sign.

The event on Sunday was their biggest turnout yet, and it is my understanding that they are trying out different time slots to see what works best. Personally I prefer the earlier time slot, as it means you can head down, take a look at some damn nice cars, head off for a bite to eat for lunch and carry on with the rest of your day - be it a cruise down the coast, or head home/out for other activities.

IMO it is streets ahead of anything else of its kind on offer in Perth; and as someone else already pointed out, if you don't like it or feel you can do better, go right ahead and make your own and see how successful it becomes.

I agree with most of what Mistikal said. it is a good event and its certainly the best of its kind here in perth. my main gripe was the time and venue change once you boiled it down.
Though i do understand the reasons behind those moves.
Keen to see what the new venue will be if they make a move again.
