Looking at this for the FG as an option maybe later down the track. Havent heard anything bad about these turbo's except for the internally gated ones have boost spike issues, but is sorted like the stock FG one by ported the wastegate.
I assume the mounting for the FG is the same as the BA/BF.

The most common turbo upgrade for modified XR6t's these days is probably something from the Precision series, most of the big hitters run them.. Your turbo is probably good for around 320rwkw, are you planning on more power?

I have never seen anyone use a kinugawa turbocharger on an xr6t, especially a journal bearing one.. ew

Didn't see the Journal Bearing, didn't even think it was an option these days, might explain the cost.
I looked at the Precision, seems to be wasted on what I'm chasing, I think probably a F6 Turbo might be the go, I don't much more that 400 - 450 at the wheels, but I don't want to be straining to do that with stock stuff. I'd rather spend a few dollars on upgrades to do it safer :)

Precision 6870, or my Precision 7175 as im due for a new one.

If you wanted to stick to 450, realisticly id stick to the F6 turbo and get the rear housing machined. Will make 500whp easy with supporting bolt ons

GTX3576r is another popular option. Response is similar to stock GT3576r and they are capable of supporting 370rwkw with the right mods

They can be had for south of $1600 minus the housing so are also quite cost effective. You'd need to mod to a 4" intake though.

Due for a new one already? 6870 is my next turbo and is rated more than the 7175 from memory?

Aren't the F6 turbos same as BA/BF?

If so, you could probably pick up a used one for cheap.

In saying that 320rwkw with the stock FG turbo is still a lot of power for a daily driven car and you get to keep the more responsive turbo.

Hypergear

He can make you a custom highflow or a turbo to suit.
Recommend him highly.

I'm not sure, hence why I am asking, new to the bogan version of boost :)

Nah I'm good, the last turbo I got from Stau for the 34 was poorly machined and the wastegate flapper snapped off, was laggy as fuck, even with a .63 housing.
Took over a month to get him to sort it as well, communication was average at best.

My mate made 420rwkw on a mainline dyno using the stock BF turbocharger and manifold (with e85) so they are good enough for what you need.

Yeah I think the FG XR6 got a smaller version for response.
If I can find a good F6 version or a low KM BF version I'll be happy.

Yeah Fg Xr more responsive, F6/bf ones had more top end.

What kind of power you aiming for? My fg turbo is near maxed out at just over 300rwkw, drives pretty well and hauls arse, but if I keep the car I'll probably be looking for turbo upgrade too. If funds allow maybe a precision turbo, but if I stumble across a good F6 one I'll run with that as once you pass the magic 400rwkw mark it looks like few things start to fail/need upgrade. From what ive read it all looks pretty reliable up till then.

My old BF made 504rwhp on the standard turbo. Wastegate was ported and a bigger flapper was installed.
For the power you´re after, get your hands on a standard BF or F6 turbo, it'll be the easiest option with least amount of hassles. And it won't be laggy.

Kinugawa and KTS also do Billet front wheels the same size as the BF/F6 turbo. A few guys have had good results fitting these to the stock FG turbo and getting the cover machines to suit.

What cooler did you use for that?

Had a stage 2 Process West cooler kit on it.

Would I do it today, I'd go for a Plazmaman kit though, quality, fitment and performance seems to be a tad better.
