Remember being in NZ some years back when it was run more regularly. Great race with great potential as these types of events (non-tarmac hillclimbs) aren't common and the ones which used to be awesome to see footage of such as pikes peak aren't even gravel anymore so have lost a lot of the slip n slide.

This year was taken out by Alistair McRae (adopted West Aussie :) )

Here's hoping Tony Quinn keeps it going and gets some good international coverage and competition.

this was his specially built car for the event

Monster Tajima was there as well and had a high speed off when the car ejected some body panels including the rear wing

Highlights package, love the footage of the quads running F1 style wings.

Awesome and cheers for posting, that road up Cardrona valley is bloody mint, belted the Toyota Highlander up there in Aug last year.

haaha, and is epic fun in the maui's with the dual wheels at the back.... once gave a hitchhiker a lift up at the start of the day and at the end of the day asked if they wanted a lift back down, they declined.....

for those interested, date for next years race to sky has been released...

"Highlands Motorsport Park has confirmed the return of the internationally acclaimed Race to the Sky hillclimb run in the Cardrona Valley for 2016.
After being brought back for the first time since 2007 by Highlands mastermind Tony Quinn, the gravel test will run from March 18-20 next year, a month earlier than the revived event."
