The top of the mountain is being opened for camping for the first time this year , for anyone interested in camping I'm happy to help out with anything , I plan on getting a prime bay bay trackside if possible stay for the weekend.

Who's coming over for it next year ?

i know it would ruin the soul of bathurst but i would love for it to be brought up to WEC standards a Bathurst 24 hours WEC race would be totally awesome

For the uneducated amongst us, what does Bathurst need to get the WEC tick?

I'm guessing full track lighting maybe ?

No wouldn't need full track lighting, LeMans is dark as hell in places, is why the cars have such good lighting.

Did read something about run off areas etc, but they run at the Nurburgring which has next to no run off.

Probably more to it.

no clue on what it would need but i think the width of bathurst in some spots is very narrow + no run off so like skyline/dipper would need some work to allow a car to go through off the ideal line a LMP1 car would be stuck behind a GT car from Skyline to Forrest Elbow. maybe there are safety concerns also about medical facilities etc around the top of the track

Some well quick times in first practice sessions.... speedcafe.com has some pretty good coverage and a race guide in pdf.... had to laugh looking at day1 times. Top 22 (out of 34) cars were under the 'lap of the gods' time set years ago by G.Murphy in a v8supercar.....

Van gisbergen punching out a 2:01.500 time in qualifying with traffic.

The McLaren's look like porn on wheels.

Lol please they could of had 20 more laps would have had same result , svg let him catch up and was just keeping a comfortable gap , you could hear how much he had backed off just going over Skyline , he's a showman and knows what fans want he let GTR catch up enough just to make it look interesting without risking the win.
He was lapping a full 2 seconds quicker than the GTR in the first couple of hours of the race l they couldn't touch the pace of the Mclaren.

Steering arm or rack I got told , first lap , I think Percat cut off the Fezza , they were not impressed about it.

Australian GT is growing very quick and with all the new cars joining the grid this year it will be awesome
M6
New SLS
488
Tekno running 3 Mclarens

I will definitely be getting up to Barbagallo this year when they come in support of the Taxis

^^ sort of makes you wonder why v8SC when they drop the v8 moniker don't just become supercarGT. racing full car porn exotics like the GT series......

V8sc actually own 50% of the 12 hour this year, so I dare say what ever replaces the super taxis will be / or very similar to gt racing

I'm going over for the Supertaxi 1000 this year just to say I've done it but the GT race is more interesting to me. Will have to make the point of getting over for the 12hr next year.

Fwiw we had some guy telling us at 1am on Sunday morning standing on Skyline while we were going down on the sliders that next years 12 hour will be the opening round for the V8s , their launch will include a top ten shoot out , then top 6 and the quickest time gets $1m or some shit , I mean it was early and my memory's sketchy and he looked somewhat legit and seemed to know what he's talking about but it is Bathurst ....

It makes sense but who knows , looking forward to it either way I will be driving 40 minutes back to watch it again for the weekend.

Anyone who is willing to rough it next year wants to chip in for a large marquee I'm thinking it's going to be the best way to camp there.

Dooo it.

Just got back to Vanuatu from the 12 hour, was good to get out of the heat for a weekend and was great racing!

Will be backing it up a 3rd year in a row next year.

also considering a yolo euro GT race in may this year, nordschleife 24 hour is on end of may I think

The sensation of speed over the top makes the V8s look very pedestrian. Downforce FTW
