How does the event work with flights during the weekend?
The airline contracted by the State Government to provide RPT services to Albany (Regional Express Airlines "REX") is working with us to make some amendments to their contracted schedule. Pending demand there is the potential to increase flights on the Friday evening and then Sunday arvo / Monday arvo but that's something for later. We will have 1 flight down early Saturday morning (we'll commence after the flight) and a flight late Sunday afternoon so we'll finish up mid Sunday arvo on the strip. The "lost time" will be made up by running under lights on Saturday with the 1/8th Mile "Cash Days" Challenge and the 1/8th Mile Open Call Out Grudge Racing after that.
Obviously if the RFDS / Water Bombing Aircraft / Coast Guard / Border Patrol need to make an emergency landing at the airport we as always will accommodate them as a priority.
Well excited for this!
Is there a camping oval planned at all?
Albany has a wide array of accommodation options suitable for all budgets and we would rather people support the local business community by utilizing the services and facilities they can provide.
Keen to get in on a group car transport/truck option if anyone is planning one?
CEVA service the car yards there and it's on my to do list to have a chat with them about pricing for a car carrier or two subject to interest. I think it's a smart move to truck cars down especially if they're "high interest" as we've been warned the cops in Williams are very by the book (although no worse than Northam's infamous traffic department)

Of course he's welcome. One thing I do want to make clear is that we're NOT running the kind of event where it's okay to go smash tyres down the strip. Those days are done and Albany is a far better strip in an spectacularly better location (arguably the best of it's kind in Australia) and needs to be respected as such. To help people keep a lid on things and run good times we're allowing drag radials in all events and we're currently going through the process to engineer something that will allow entrants to pre warm their tyre's before they go for a run and increase the roll on speed so we're line ball with what they do in the USA as well. All of this helps keep things safer and importantly helps everyone go faster as well.
As a general thing for everyone I realize we've been liberal with the skids policy previously, we simply can't and won't allow it in Albany and we'll be taking a tougher line. We're going to be realistic about it as always we know that wheel spin will occur but we also know the throttle works both ways and drivers should be able to reasonably manage their cars. Spinning isn't winning and clearly deliberate mongery and big burnouts will get you kicked out. I really think the changes to the rules to allow radials and facilitate tyre warming should help as well and I think the fact that Snowy's strip in Cooma is still in great aesthetic condition after several years of use proves it can be done. The reality is laying lines won't hurt the strip it's just a bad look and reflects poorly on everyone which makes the sell harder to keep the event ongoing.
Most of us here love a good skid myself included but we're going to make it quite clear for everyone that if people just want to smash tyres and paint lines Gazzanats is on that weekend and we'd rather they went and tore up Collie instead if they're that way inclined. ( The town stage on Monday is where we can let our hair down a bit ;) )

is that town stage similar to the red centre nats?
It’s back in 2016! One of the biggest highlights from Red CentreNATS 01 was the ability for entrants to apply to drive an unregistered vehicle on the streets of Alice Springs. Who’d think we would ever see serious burnout cars with big blowers driving through the Maccas drive through!

I'm not 100% sure of the precise date but I'd expect it won't be too far away. The website and a few odd's and sods are being attended to then it'll open for business. The sooner you send us your cash the better :p The bills aren't paying themselves :/
As for the tyre warm up pad, it's something we're in the process of wrapping up now. It will be fit for purpose (getting a bit of heat in the tyres) but not that big that people will be tempted to mistake the staging area for a snakepit.
Here's how not to do it proudly bought to you by America.

Wow, that's right up there for must retarded burnout. Tyre chocks, steel pad and single peg fail followed by rear guard pretzel.
Not for me either. In reality, no tyre warming is of relative benefit to me, in that I'm ok with cold tyres and a lot of far more highly powerd cars are not! But seeing as results are by trap speed, it don't matter in any case...I'll be midfield somewhere.

The introduction of Drag Radials this year and us wanting to take all reasonable measures to avoid undue and excessive wheelspin on the strip means that especially for those running radials a small pad in each staging lane is best practice.
The pads engineered for a purpose and is not suitable for full blown tyre busting antics. The other thing to consider is tyre wear, if people are going full Victor Bray mode each pass they'll have ruined tyres before the end of day 1. I don't have enough power to warrant the change over to radials and nor can I be bothered mucking around with my brake bias every pass to do a skid in the FD. A good set of high performance street tyres will perform well enough for me (not going to waste my A050's) but there's a good number of people who will benefit from radials and hazing them pre pass.

Brings back memories visiting a local night club. . Working in town for a week. Talk to a hottie. Some Bogan claims her as his. She don't. I keep talking. Next minute Security asks me to leave because of Bogan mate. I tell Security to piss off as I'm busy.
I give my wing man the nod. Hell breaks lose. Hottie comes back to Big 4 Middleton Beach Holiday Park. Deserving spa awaits. Hottie gets phone call and abuses me and my wing man. Hottie leave. No root. Pissed off because had to run back to the Big 4 from the bar and no root.

Had a burger with Galvsport the other day at a burger bar. I think Galvsport was wondering why shop owner and I were susing each other out and then both concluded with where we previously worked. Both of us picked cooks in a kitchen on Sydney. After all Sydney is a big place so safe bet.
At the end of our burgers I was drinking straight spirits with shop owner. GALVSPORT being a regular customer there was like WTF?

It appears Racewars may taking over a bar in town for the weekend. (Seriously)
I've decided to make myself in charge of that bit and dedicate my weekend to quality assurance and product testing. Have fun at the track people. :p

I grew my teen years in Albany,
and I was good boy like smacking teachers at sunday football then having to call them SIR next morning at school(only 16),
my father never commented about my behaviour as it was never my fault..
but had a great time growing up, in pubs at 16(had to be 21), chasing older girls and even catching the odd 1....

Anyone know what the rules are on exhausts? Do you need a full one or can it be run out the bonnet for instance?

4.1 - GENERAL VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS:
4.11 - All vehicles are to be presented at pre event scrutineering as outlined below and must comply with the following regulations as a minimum:
- A secondary method of securing the bonnet if a non OEM item is being used.
- All forward facing glass lenses to be completely covered by a protective film.
- All loose objects are to be removed from the vehicle.
- The driver’s floor mat must be removed.
- Ensure there are no loose hose clamps or dragging mechanical components.
- Cameras must be mounted securely and comply with the relevant standards.
- Vehicles fitted with kill switches, battery isolation switches or fire suppression systems must be suitably marked and the pre event scrutineer must be notified.
- Exhausts (excluding screamer pipes) are to exit after the midway point of the wheelbase.
- If a breather system discharges to atmosphere, vehicles are to be fitted with a catch can.
- Vehicles with a 2000cc capacity or below to be of a 2 litre variety and vehicles with a 2001cc capacity or above to be of a 3 litre variety.
But it's not all bad news...
4.14 - PROVISIONS FOR DEMONSTRATION CLASS VEHICLES AND SIGNIFICANTLY MODIFIED VEHICLES:
Classic (Pre 1980) or dedicated race vehicles may be granted an exemption from complying with the vehicle standards providing the entrant can prove the vehicle is still safe & suitable to compete and subject to approval from Event Management. Any vehicle granted an exemption from the vehicle standards will be classified as a demonstration class vehicle and may be subject to additional conditions or restrictions.
I'm lead to believe the website / regs and so forth are due to go public shortly so that should answer everything. The Forged Magazine Cash Days 1/8 Mile regs are very loose for Outlaw Class car's.
Outlaw Class:
If it has 4 wheels and doors you can race (Anything not permitted in Street Class)
Winner takes all.
Capped at 32 car field
Street Class AWD / 2WD:
Must be able to legally drive to and from the track (Will have an independent party to adjudicate this point).
No wheelie bars.
DOT approved tyres only (Drag Radials permitted)
AWD winner gets 40% of the pot, RWD winner gets 40% of the pot then let the 2WD & AWD champs battle it out for bragging rights and the remaining 20% of the pot.
If you've got something like this and want to race I'm sure we can work something out as always.

Huggy may as well pay up now. I'll put Braptism on the Cash Day's Outlaw Class entrant list but I'd say even your Prado would do the 1/8th mile in reverse with the car trailer on faster than Huggy could push it.

I'm sure Jim won't mind sullying his good name, dropping his standards lower than your arms could reach in to those deep pockets of yours and lining your billycart up for a pass.
Braptism v LFXX - $500. Street legal tyres, so get your radials out. I'll even keep a synchro H pattern in it.
