So I'm considering buying a tablet PC for travel and latenight youjizz sessions.
Would ideally like to be able to watch Netflix in bed and if possible even use it as a PC/laptop to play netflix through other TV's.
Basic requirements are:
Keyboard, preferably detatchable
preferably windows OS or similar with ability to run antivirus software
HDMI able to play movies through my TV (preferably up to and including Blu-ray if possible)
Decent screen/touchscreen
Not super keen on games, but may be interested in small flash games
Dual camera if possible.
So I found this:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/iRULU-Walknbook-Win10-OS-10-1-IPS-Display-2GB-32GB-ROM-Hybrid-Laptop-Quad-Core-Bluetooth4/32501572833.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.1.D2mgE9&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_7,searchweb201602_1_100 17_10005_10006_10034_10021_507_10022_10020_10018_1 0019,searchweb201603_2&btsid=ba4c162a-ff2a-4a1c-ae83-7c1a01aff0ef
What's everyone's thoughts? Very china, how legit/safe would this be???
Eg is it likely to have the specs it says, and how can it be so cheap AND come with Windows?
32GB of memory is SFA but with a USB port and SD slot it's actually not bad! Has wifi and HDMI, no idea if it would be strong enough to play through the TV.
Otherwise there are better spec'd ones up to $350 and above.
Specs don't seem too bad, screen is a bit of a worry? Comments?

OK so I think I've settled on this...
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Teclast-Tbook10-Tbook-10-Dual-OS-Windows-10-Android-5-1-Tablet-PC-Intel-Cherry-Trail/32659968581.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.34.D3SyVk&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_8,searchweb201602_1_100 17_10034_10021_507_10022_10032_10020_10009_10008_1 0018_10019,searchweb201603_2&btsid=9ba3af9b-a531-46aa-908a-d37e26a2248e
$350 posted. 4gb ram, (low end cherry trail) quad core, full HD screen, all of the outputs and inputs I desire, windows AND android, keyboard with extra battery and under $350 delivered with DHL.
Any thoughts before I possibly burn $350?
Spend the extra $50 on something name brand and not get burnt?

$400 doesn't get you anywhere near that spec
I can throw in some feathers to sweeten the deal

Actually doesn't look too bad for the price.
Should be fine for general browsing and watching pronz.
Let me know how it goes. Be interested to see how the build quality is IRL.

the dual boot excites me as the lite android-ing will be fun and pair nicely with my chromecast/netflix/youjizz.
I'm slightly concerned about security though, not sure what the go is for anti-virus on windows 10 tablets or even android apps. as I will actually use it as a laptop and would therefore like to do things like banking and tax etc.
Hi!
The big issue with the China laptops and tablets is updating them. A lot of the time they use clone components, so whilst it looks and smells and does almost all of the same things as a brand name one,
you usually can only update drivers and software through the manufacturer's website. The problem with this is that the cheaper manufacturers often change models quickly, change names, close, or simply don't bother
putting any time or effort into updating their software or drivers. I've even had one where the Windows licence wasn't legitimate!
Some China ones can be quite good. They sometimes use last generation or low end Samsung, Lenovo, Toshiba, Sharp or LG components. They definitely have a limited lifetime though. The weak points tend
to be the batteries and the inbuilt storage (flash memory). What's that? You want to replace the battery or install new flash memory? Sure, that'll be $250. Yeah, nah.
I would honestly look at something dirty and cheap from a local retailer.
If you need some guidance we can discuss over the phone if you like. PM me and I'll give you my number.
Otherwise, visit me and I can show you the cheap Windows 8 tablet that I use.

I'm not arguing that there aren't decent options, but I will say that this example you've presented is a poor one. $150 extra for no HDMI, old spec cpu, 2gb ram, old windows, no android etc etc. I wouldn't buy it anyway, because HDMI is the main point, but it's basically $150 extra to lose heaps of fruit and gain a brand name.
I dunno, I'm distracted by the glitter and "bang for buck" of china tablets. there's nothing that will come close to what will be in what I'm looking at, my only concern is what Dr.J has pointed out. service and reliability.
Asus transformer is what i picked a year or more ago and its 10/10 if all you want to do is browse/watch videos. Battery lasts ages and easily fits in bags etc.

it has a micro hdmi port mate.
the bay tail is not much different to the newer cherry trail either, its updateable to windows 10 as well and for basic browsing and Netflix you wont hit a wall with 2gb ram. as for android you said you were after windows.

My mistake for not googling, nowhere on that listing does it mention HDMI, but the actual ASUS specs for the model do list it.
It's still generally lower spec and missing things I like for 45% more $, with a name brand and the support that brings.
To be fair the majority of the functionality I lose by not having android is covered by my phone anyway.
It's a gamble and options similar to this and slightly more expensive are what have been holding me back making a purchase. The specs of the china options are enticing though.

FWIW the link I posted in the first post. I almost bought one until I googled it further.
Found a bunch of comments from people on a page where it was for sale asking the supplier if there were any driver updates for the wifi as the wifi was terrible, like 10-30kb/s download speeds across the board.
Replies were along the lines of what DrJ outlined... Like a $20 wifi adapter isn't the end of the world, but when that's 1 of your 2 USB ports gone it's pretty shit.
This Teclast one seems to be a cut above, but it's also only a month old so too early for any gremlins to be known.

So I took everyone's sage advice on board and then last night my pay came through and I was like... fuck it.
I'll no doubt me whinging about it in a fortnight-month's time when it doesn't deliver what I had hoped, but I'll let you know how it goes.
As for the windows thing, I haven't used a legit version in ages. as long as it can update *somehow* and isn't going to open me up security-wise I don't care. It's insane how they can sell tablets for $99 with windows 10 installed... clearly not going to be legit.
