Can you enter just the cash days only?
Absolutely you can.
Both cash days on Saturday night and the street sprint on Monday are affiliated with the Racewars event, but run separately if that makes any sense.

Looks like I need to get the car dialed in by then :) Definitely won't be running MTs though as I won't be towing the car at this stage unless we are running another truck.

had a chuckle reading through some posts under a video (or RWcar doing a run on albany strip),,,,, usual suspects,,,
1 worried about noise , another races go karts and thinks cars are slow, another also thinks 255km in 1000m is slow......
cant wait to see some quiet/quick go-karts rock up to the strip come march.........
interesting having real conversations with people and you get the standard - arent drag cars quicker than that?
(my response, Many of the cars at racewars are actaully legit road cars, the strip is not prepped in any way and over 400m and 800m you can passenger ride in them)...
- my (insert relative of friend here) has a xxxx bike that is way quicker than that!
(my response quickest production bike in the world needs nearly 1100m to get to 300km/h, the fastest cars at RW will hit that in 800m).....
ON a side note it was really funny listening in to these guys at the italian car day the other week talking up their cars and people looking at some of the fine machinery there..... hilarious when the fancy Mil$ lambo started up and all these people like wow, sounds so fast looks amazing...... totally oblivious to the fact that it was sitting next door to prob the fastest road reg lambo in Aust.... TT/UG ....

Righteo lads.
Tris & I are heading to Albany early next month for the final big sit down with all the local authorities / stakeholders ect ect before the event.
Aside from being able to store cars at the airport over night what else would you like us to ask on your behalf while we're there.
Also beatle. I've not seen anything come to me about you withdrawing yet and can't see anything in the system.

If the option of storage of cars at the airport is a No-Go, couple of pages ago it was touched on about contact with the local 5-0 and movement of cars to and from the event under their own steam.
Is that something that might be tabled, I'm all for the pineapples to come hard and fast for someone who feels the need to be full hektic leaving the venue. The majority of us who respect the venue and town, it would be a logistic benefit if movement of competitor cars is given a Blue Thumbs up?

28-11-2016, 03:41 PM
It will be tabled at 09:00 on the 8th December when we meet with District Superintendent Wood.

As above.. would be nice if we could drive to and from without any hassles. Also given the number of Big $$ high HP cars and the amount of advertising that has been going on will there be any form of security or even a higher police presence for the cars/gear left there to try and keep the wrong crowd away etc? I'm sure we will attract more then just car enthusiasts unfortunately.
Also when should we expect replies to the scrutineering query email we replied to?

actually not.... read ALL the regs... they cover a lot of vehicle etc that need to move from one location to another for various purposes and are basically covering asses as they are insurance cover for said vehicle as obviously when you have a licensed vehicle you are already slugged for this...

There's some works going on at the airport prior to the event and the strip is actually going to get a fresh seal prior to the event but there's no full sealed taxi way planned (if we're lucky we might get a sealed taxi way from the apron to the staging area by the event).

Have done the Unlicensed Vehicle Permit before without hassle. This is NOT a Temp movement permit. The following applies-
An unlicensed vehicle permit (UVP) can be issued to:
A vehicle to be entered in a rally.
A rally support vehicle.
A motorcycle to be entered into an enduro event.
Over dimensional vehicles and equipment used in the agricultural, industrial or mining industries that is not eligible to be licensed as Class B vehicles.
Any vehicle that is over weight on axles and is not eligible to be licensed as a Class C vehicle.
Any other vehicle that does not comply with the requirements for licensing.
Any other vehicle that is designed primarily for recreational, sporting or related purposes.
The UVP is valid for a period of between 60 hours and 12 months depending on the intended use of the vehicle.
This is usually made easier with the event being registered somehow. Enduro events are a good example. Can ride your B Class rego'd dirt bike on public roads on an enduro event using this system. Maybe something to be looked into? OH, and this applies ONLY to non-registered vehicles only.

I had a look at a Temporary Movement Permit I got a few months ago to take one of my cars for licensing. The conditions read as per below.
This permit is only valid for driving or towing an unlicensed vehicle by the shortest possible route to or from: a place of repair and/or vehicle examination for the intention of licensing; an
official motor race event in order to participate; an industrial field day; an agricultural property; any place where the vehicle is to be raffled for a charitable organisation; and/or the state border in order to license in another jurisdiction.
If you're an unlicensed competition car in a "roadworthy" state this ought to cover you. Obviously life will be made much easier for all if we manage to get the local authorities to work with us. For most I would assume the risk is more defect notices on licensed cars so we'll do our bit to try and garner a mutual understanding here. As always though the rules are the rules and as applied by the officer on the day. Best bet is don't get pulled over...
Now then the list of questions stands at.
Parking at Airport.
Status of Airport works.
Ability to move competition vehicles in and around town.

Most rally events they get mr plod to stand up at the drivers briefing and tell all the pingpingpings we will have extra speed traps around town, extra booze buses etc. if your an idiot we will f&$k your shit up but if your not a moron we will get along just fine. Also they get a bit of good cop bad cop going with the "commissioner has had some complaints from locals etc so please do the right thing as we want this event to continue "etc. seems to usually be well received.

I'm not sure the Kwinana plant does. Laverton in Victoria does but not sure how much goes to United as their plant is very small.
Kwinana mainly does Sodium and Sulphur based chemicals. ... unless their business model changed...
Peak and United at one stage were transporting their fuel by road from SA fuel plants. It ain't suitable for 1000 plus cars on E85 in Perth.

Coogee chemicals in Kwinana has a petroleum tank farm with a take or pay contract with Malaysian and Singapore fuel suppliers. As part of this agreement they also had to have redundant capacity so a pipeline was built over to BP for emergency storage.
I'm not aware of any Ethanol storage there but can ask the guys tomorrow.

My old man still has his old school one too. I've got two gas and two coal. Would be plenty enough for 4 lambs possibly even get away with two lambs. Just do a lunch time thing as you'd not really want it in the morning, spin them an hour apart and serve one at 12 and the other at 1. Not much to it really, pretty straight forward.
I can get some good lamb through a butcher I bu from fresh from Katanning. Always the ones that have been culled on the same day so it's as fresh as it can get and not been in the cooler room for days.

Get one that is a day old not kept in a col room. The enzimes are still alive in the muscles etc and it breaks the meat down. Makes it so tender.

Yes it is and no I'm not. The plumbing nightmare of custom 8 port direct nitrous needed for 8 ITB setup means that's a no. Overnight from Japan or not.
And yes, Dave runs Avon historic look race rubber. Not that it's helping him much based on what he tells me.
And forget Coyote donks - was looking at one in a Pace GT40 when over picking up Dave's new cobra last month. They fit, but are massive and ugly compared to a little Windsor...however fast is beautiful I guess.
In any case, I'm in love with the new replica Pace is developing presently. Just need to find a way to get hold of one if/when it becomes available.

Tristan and his little helper Paddles will be locked away in their own scaffold race control tower on the eastern side of the runway (far far away from everybody) with some red & green flags and a 2 way radio. This is because we can't see the end of the strip from the start line and as such Tristan will be keeping an eye on proceedings from there and Paddles can wave the red flag to shut the show down if someone forgets to do their sump plug up and lubes the strip ect ect. I doubt there will be much use let alone room for the GT40 at TrisTowers but I'm sure there will be other willing candidates who'll step in and look after it on his behalf.

I guess that's the reasoning behind the hoodies then?

15-12-2016, 04:13 PM
We'd always had requests for Hoodies so we've opted for them this time around. I think given it should be a balmy Autumn evening in Albany the hoodie will be an ideal option come Cash Days evening especially as it gets fucking cold down there.
I'm currently drafting a competitor communique which will go out to all and sundry shortly. It's mostly good news with the council accepting a lot of what we've asked for. This competitor communique is going to be very important with competitors needing to reply to certain aspects of it.
A few of the big items will be the commencement of the scruitineering process, parking and storage of vehicles and support items at the airport, restricted / prohibited items at the airport, some detail around arrangements with local vendors to support RW entrants, The agreements in place with Albany's Police & us and our expectations (and suggestions) for helping to maintain the positive relationship with law enforcement as well as a few pre race weekend festivities and the all important launch dates for Cash Days & Show & Shine entry. Given some people are looking to switch their cars away from E85 due to supply issues we're going to allow commercially available race unleaded fuels such as VP109 / Elf 105 ect ect for those who wish to go down that path and we're also going to try and clarify some of the frequently asked questions around a few items such as qualifying for VMAX and so forth. All standard shit but it's going to help people put their minds at ease.
I'll let everyone in here know when I send it out and I'd encourage people in here to get in touch with people they know who are coming along and who aren't on social media and get them to check their inboxes.
IF people don't reply to this communique they're going to have a bad time and we'd rather avoid having people not make the most of their Racewars experience because they've not got their shit sorted.

If you entered your email address correctly at sign up you've been sent a sign up email and at least one additional email I had sent out after signing up. I know this as I had it done. I've also manually sent emails to people who've made simple errors we can detect like using a , instead of a . ect ect.
If you havent it's either gone to Spam, been blocked by some 3rd party filter or you're email addy is incorrect in the system (the computer automatically sends it out to all addys on file and we follow up and auto rejects / fails).
I've personally got zero idea about anything to do with merch. All questions regarding merch orders are best directed to Jess or JME.
E85 availability in WA is touch and go and possibly going to be withdrawn if the internet is to be believed. This has seen a few serious guys switch cars to other high performance fuels they can be sure will be available in drum stock as required (and arent as prone to going off as easily as E85)

I think CO2 is another problem for them. Medical grade stuff now being shipped from France due to their plant not being up to spec.

Personally I don't believe the talk of it being canned.
United have invested too much in marketing to pull the plug on it. I would assume it's a loss leader for them though but thats part and parcel of retail fuel sales.
However if people wish to spend $3 per litre and up on fancy race fuels they are welcome to do so and all the very best to them.

Does E85 age in the drum? Even if you used half a drum then seal it back up properly? Or is it a case of once it sees some oxygen it starts to go funky?

Its hygroscopic, absorbs water very quickly from the air......bigger the air gap in drum the more moisture, more times opened, more air and moisture in.... if used quickly the less the issue.
Only way to ensure it's "fresh" if you buy large quantities is to decant the 205l drum into smaller containers with no air gap that you can use in one go(20L fuel can).

I pulled plugs out of my drag car the other week, wasn't intending on changing them. just pulled to help turn motor over while i was checking lifter preload.
Anyway.. they had been in for over 12 months or so, only ever ran on e85. Apart from a little bit of rust on the last 1-2 threads they showed perfect burn/heat colouration.
Our tanks have a 1 way valve breather (incase they go upside down it closes off) so they are open to atmosphere all the time. We don't drain them between meetings either and often go a few weeks to a month before refreshing fuel and haven't had any problems.

Official inspection days at Big Rock will be 4th & 11th Feb. No booking required. Theres capacity for ~100 cars per day at Big Rock Toyota so it's going to be 2 massive days!
Jai and his team are happy to inspect or re-inspect cars outside these official dates all the way up to a few days prior to race day however you will need to book a time with Big Rock Toyotas service center via Jai and a fee is payable.
The inspection days at Big Rock Toyota are going to be turned in to a bit of a pre event thing with some trader displays, prizes, bbq's and so on and so forth on hand. Big Rock are also doing dardy deals for RW entrants on cars if anyone needs a new 200 Series tow car inbetween now and the event... :)
Because things have gotten much more serious / demanding behind the scenes theres no dardyness like cheating or fudging tech inspection either this yr. I have to submit all the signed forms prior to race day. No sign off = no race.
I've booked my 2 cars in at Big Rock Toyota in late Feb when I get back to Aus (and before anyone pisses and moans about the fee for picking your own time / date I'm paying the relevant fees to BRT for my out of schedule inspection slots)
SWB in Bunno & BTG in Albany are also able to inspect cars via appointment.
When I get my shit sorted and email you all you'll need to let us know if you're going to go see Big Rock Toyota, Uncle Bartos @ South West Brakes or BTG Mechanical in Albany so we can send your kits to the right workshop.

1) Who do I need to email to ascertain if I made the Vmax (1000m) entry list? I was a late entry so not really sure of status.
2) I run ZR rated tyres (>240 km/h). Regs call for W rated (up to 270 km/h) as minimum. Can the brains trust please confirm that ZR's are ok? This is in relation to R-Comp circuit type tyres I run (Hankook Fronts, Nitto Rears). In any case, buying some more rear boots now, cause the last pair had a short and eventful life as per usual.

Alright, there's not a fucking hope in hell of the Evo making it now, and i'd rather give my spot up to a more worthy car/competitor than send the Touareg belting down the runway, as much fun as it would be.
What's the go with onselling/passing entry on to the next in line?

Cheers Bucket Boy. No problem, come Sunday lunchtime there'll be a few VMAX spots vacant no doubt, so will try my luck then.
FYI - V rated tyres are rated max 240 km/h. ZR rated tyres are listed as > 240 km/h, but to not give an upper speed 'limit'. The question is moot anyway. Either I can run with the tyres I have, or I can't run at all. Not much I can do about it.

As per the Bible
2.8 - Refunds may only be granted in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of Event Management. Where a refund is approved, the competitor will receive a refund of their entry fee minus an $85 AUD administration fee.
2.9 - Entries may not be on sold or transferred to another person. Competitors may elect to change their nominated vehicle with Event Managements approval. Any entry that is on sold or transferred without approval will be voided.

Sure, your choices are:
Yet another boring POS LS1 Commode as a super sub (is it OK to pay out on Commodore drivers, when 95% of the time I'm one?),
or a diesel AWD Tezza (not spinning, not winning),
or a slightly second hand shovel nose Celica rallycross special, which I'm sure will not pass any form of scruit!
Anyways, I should get onto throwing donk together (hurry up rod bearings and get here already) so I can actually make it to scruit under own power, never mind the finer details. Shipping times at Christmas are not real flash are they...

I think my old man has decided to take his blown ve instead of drag car. I however will still be taking mine at this stage. Trans brake th400 is in now. Sadly wont have the new haltech controlling it all by then as I still have racing events in feb & april. So apart from changing diff/tailshaft around I dont want to fuck with it too much.
Buckets, As i have 2 entries for 2 cars. Does it matter that one of my 2 entered cars will have 2 drivers? I.e 2nd car i entered on behalf of my brother. Previous years we got 2 driver wristbands, so i was just going to give 1 to him. I imagine we are just signing on in the mornings anyway regardless.

As per The Bible.
2.11 - A vehicle may only be driven by the competitor nominated on the competitor entry form. If the competitor is not the legal owner of the vehicle the competitor must obtain the vehicle owners authority to enter the vehicle. A competitor may carry a single passenger during certain sessions at Event Management’s sole discretion and will be subject to any conditions set down by Event Management.
Now we've always been semi flexible on this (especially for "workshop" cars) provided the driver is already a registered entrant. So the easiest option here to to sign one car over to your brother so he gets a number, is in our system ect ect then utilize between you as you see fit (Note the results for the vehicle will go to the driver the vehicle is registered against). Put his name down at scruit against one of the cars and we'll amend from there (and flick me an email to remind me what car got changed to who). Also don't change the listed email or phone numbers for the vehicle please. As retarded as it sounds the constant flow of little changes like this we've permitted previously actually generate a lot of ginning around in the background and also costs $ each time we have to get the database amended, then resubmitted / redistributed. It's not much but it's best avoided if we can.

Right.
Really we should enforce a the rules are the rules approach and be done with it. For what it's worth a roll on 1/2 mile pass equates to a 904.6m pass. In all reality unless you have insane HP ect ect you are going to be near enough to the same speed (with in a few km/h) over the roll on 1/2 mile as you are the 1000m standing start. As such what's good for VMAX entrants is also required for just about everyone else (except bonafide demo class entrants as they fall under a completely different basket in the eyes of the people who insure the event - No idea why but it is what it is, we do as we're told / allowed).
IF your vehicle is unlikely to exceed the speed rating on the tyres it's fitted with or you can make a reasonable case that your current tyres are fit for purpose (in Julian's case rated for "over" 240km/h which is about as fast as he can wind that thing of his up to for it to not be an issue) then there's room to move. So if you wish to run Z rated tyres you need to make the case that you won't exceed 240 km/h over the weekend. If you can make that case, we can make the case and get an exemption. If you're shooting for 240+ the answer is no.
I'd also caution people on the use of R-Comp's / semi slicks (or circuit racing slicks) on the airstrip. If you want to do it then so be it however it's most likely going to be cold, the track will be cold(ish) and the surface is green. There's no rubber on it at all and there will not be much laid down over the weekend. Cold tyres (You won't get enough heat in to the compound unless you rape the burnout pad), cold ambient conditions and a green track = Not ideal conditions for circuit tyres. I've tested it already, they're not a spectacular option if you want grip straight away. Drag Radials or high performance road tyres will do a better job.
If you're buying new rubber for RW do keep this in mind.

I was always under the inmpression that Z and ZR rated tyres were for greater that 240+ not just limited to 240... ?? a quick search yields that many manufacturers have Z higher than W. and V is the 240 specification that means that it it only 240.
So if the minimum spec'd for racewars is W then arent the GT40s' or other similar Z designated tyres above this and therefore meeting regs?

Buckets I'm after some info. Running a surge tank in the boot of my wagon. What would be classed as a "suitable firewall"? obviously want to sort this before scrutineering.
Also in the Cash days regs it states that "tyre types must match front to back" but in the RW regs it never states this. So for the RW events can you run a drag radial on the rear and another type of tyre on the front or is this a no no??
DCIEVE I'm looking at running et street r as well. where abouts you looking to get yours from? see if we can do a bulk buy?

Gents.
The rules were written and accepted as they were written at sign up. Play by them as they're written. If in doubt err on the side of caution. So no "MH Camber Drag Radials" aren't on the approved list and can't be used. The tyres listed on the "approved" list for DOT Radials are the ONLY DOT Radials we've been given approval to permit. Show up with anything other than what's on that list and you'll either fail tech or be issued with participation restrictions ect ect.
Our sponsor Clark Tyres in Albany is doing deals on Mickey Thompson DOT radials for RW entrants. Get in contact with them if you'd like to arrange a group buy.
At the end of the day I'm not the person who makes determinations on whats "suitable" as neither I nor the rest of the team have the prerequisite knowledge or trade competency / experience that our professional inspection teams do; this is why it's contracted out. As such we will recuse ourselves from making determinations of this nature and defer them to the inspecting workshops. The tech inspection teams are the guys who will sign off (or not) on the car so for questions such as this it would be prudent to raise any niggling doubts with them directly so you can present the vehicle as they wish to see it presented and pass.
Cash Days is a completely separate event from RW, as is the Sprint. As such they're subject to their own standalone technical rules. CD's rules are much less restrictive than RW's so there are no restrictions of tyres for Outlaw Class for instance. This means we can permit vehicles running Bias Ply tyres can enter. As per any event of this nature we do not permit a car to run with Bias Ply tyres on one axle and radials on another or vice versa. The tyre types must match. I take this to mean you MUST run radial type tyres on all four corners OR bias ply type tyres on all four corners. Any RW & CD entrant must run a radial type tyre anyway for RW.
