Gracie I agree with ,she has cash behind her and is more focused on her looks then racing but Simona on the other hand has achieved wins so clearly has some talent
2015 - Became a driver for Andretti Autosport and competes in IndyCars and drives full-time for the Amlin Andretti Formula E team.
2014 - Signed as an affiliate driver with the Sauber F1 Team
2013 - Simona had nine top-10 finishes, including her first IndyCar podium finish with a second place finish in Houston.
2011 - (IZOD IndyCar Series) Started sophomore season with back-to-back top-ten finishes (4th at St. Pete, 9th at Barber). Awarded "Fastest Lap of the Race" at Sao Paulo, Brazil. Had a courageous return to qualify on Pole Day after a massive crash at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Since then she has earned another top-ten finish (Toronto).
2010 - (IZOD IndyCar Series) Indy 500 Rookie of the Year. Lead laps in very first race in IZOD IndyCar Series (Sao Paulo, Brazil). Achieved tow top-ten finishes (Toronto, Mid-Ohio).
2009 - (Atlantic Championship) Team Stargate Worlds, 4 Wins, 4 Poles
2008 - (Atlantic Championship) Newman Wachs Racing, 1 Win
2007 - (Champ Car Atlantic) Walker Racing
2006 - (Formula BMW USA) EuroInternational, 1 Win
2005 - (Formula Renault 2.0 Italy) Cram Competition
OK I'll play

I will not even consider her 2012 season - the Lotus engine was SO SO SO SO bad - literally down 150hp and would grenade often.
Other than that, her results have been not even average. What this doesn't show, is how often she was so far off the pace as well.
2009, her good year in Atlantics - well she raced in a field that had almost half the drivers in and out of cars, missing with injuries etc etc. In other words, she was beating fill ins.
This isn't a sexism thing, unless its reverse sexism, because if she was a guy NO WAY would she have just gotten a 3 year Nissan factory drive based on her results.

McGlaughlin penalised 25 points for Unsafe Re-Entry back onto the track.
Triple8 Racing have stumped up $10,000 to appeal the Whincup 10 second penalty, citing inconsistent rulings.

And yet people are losing their shit over Whincup doing exactly the same thing. Tander would have seen McGlaughlin go off-track and been more aware. Racing incident that cost 3 people a change of winning.
Great race, as always, but a moments thought by Tander would have ensured no massive carnage. And then blame whincup for it... Anyway, 'rats to Tekno Motorsport - lady luck was with you.

It's not the same thing.
Jamie made a move, which was no doubt planned.
Tander was reacting to Jamie checking up - Whincup propped mid-corner on the racing line, and then appeared to block, WTF was Tander supposed to do? He was trying to go around a slower car. Couldn't go left onto the grass

It isn't Tanders fault, stewards see someone on the grass as having no rights. So the onus is on the off-track car to proceed back onto the track without interfering with a on-track car.
I saw both penalties as just. Whincup was too gun ho into the corner especially on a car that was being lapped, and McGlaughlin for coming back on track in a unsafe manner.

As a disclaimer i am NOT a whincup fanboi and i like watching the v8's because they do rub paint.
So... whincup stuffed up and hit mcgloclan. Bound to happen that late in the race. Always does. Didnt punt him into a wall. Pulled up straight away on the opposite side of the road to where mcgloclan was going to reneter and allowed him to redress as soon as practicable.
Mcgloclan re enters realistically without really looking.
Tander had a birds eye view of the whole thing and would of seen it in slow motion. As far as i am concerned he saw a gap and went for it. It didnt come off. He saw whincup pull up and avoided him once. He should of either literally gone on the grass and easily rounded both of them up or let it play out.
My point is if it all happened again tomorrow who would change what they did? The answer would be tander and therein lies the issue.
For my money whincup couldnt have redressed sooner and the blame lies with tander.
Brendon
I doubt Tander would of seen Scotty until very very late in the piece - he does shoot off fairly far to the left, and was probably focused on getting around Jamie.
I have no bias here either, other than I feel for Scotty, hes a great young talent.
No issue with rubbing panels, but when you are out of control as Jamie was it's not a fair move.

and here really lies the crux of the issue..... if wincup didnt have someone in the corner to bounce off would he have made it without spinning or going off himself.????
cause if he couldnt have (was a substantial lockup and hit) then it isnt really a late race manouver and shouldnt even be allowed at all hence the penalty..
compare that move to many that Giz pulled of without having to resort to the punt ;)

09-10-2016, 10:03 PM
So supoosedly the penalty whincup got was for the hit on mcgloclan and not his involvement in the aftermath.
So red bull have protested on the basis that at the drivers briefing they were told you either have to redress or its a 10 point penalty. Nothing about a 15 second penalty.
If roland dane is right it seems a prety open and shut case and whincup will be announced the winner. T8 have until tuesday night to gather and present evidence and we should hear on Wednesday or Thursday.
Regardless of who wins the appeal its a shit way for an awesome race to finish.

Tander would of seen scotty go off. He has done enough laps to know he isnt going to hit anything and where he was going to rejoin. I think he saw an opportunity to get past whincup (remembering they hate each other) and in that split secnd forgot about scotty.
plus one for scotty being a gun. He is still only twenty four.

Exactly, it was a swiss-cheese model whereby if one of the events occurred on there own, or at a slightly different time it would have been ok, but they all just happen to line up.

“Supercars Australia can confirm an appeal has been lodged by Triple Eight Race Engineering Car 88 following today’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000,” read a statement from Supercars
Also
“We have protested the penalty because it is not consistent with what we’ve been told as to the way the rules are applied this year,” Dane told Speedcafe.com.
He is quite correct. Judging from what happened to Moffat at Eastern Creek Whincup should have got a drive through.

This.
They are all trying to capitalise on the situation the best they can, it's called racing. Personally I don't really blame any of them, just an unfortunate set of circumstances. The Volvo & HRT clipped wheels in a way that ripped Tander's out, which made them spin.
50cm further forward or backwards and it would have all been fair bump play on.
Brilliant race as usual.

If HRT are behind GT on this one saying the "other 2 ran out of talent", then why are they not re-newing his racing contract?
And .. Imagine the uproar if JDUB is found to have been unfairly penalised and awarded the race win.

Because without factory backing they don't want to pay his wages.

Didnt want to speak ill of the dead. But we are anyway, so here goes.
If you happen to read either of Allan Scott's books on TWR engines (He is supposedly writing four of them the first two cover the Group A V12's, the second the Rover V8's, not sure when the third is due but will either be the Group C engines or the rotaries) he, in passing, talks about the illegalities the engines had in them. Be it dodgy rockers, cross bolting on the Rover V8's or the (in)famous blow up fuel bladders on the XJS's. That is just the bits he knew about.
So the expression is probably cheating piece of shit.

It's only cheating if and when you get caught. Until then it's gaining an engineering advantage.
Think of what Red Bull Racing used to get caught with during the Newey era or McLaren's 3rd brake pedal ect ect. All genius ideas that skirted the rules to win.
Ryan Walkinshaw is a jizzrag of the highest caliber purely because he's fucked up the VF GTS-R by not putting a fucking LS9 in it.

LS9 in the GTS-R would have been an EPIC SEND OFF for the car. But alas, no....

In any case the main point is 888 are turds, surely?
They turned up, rolled the field, and have turned it into a very good business for themselves.
Also, Skaife wasn't far off from needing a soup kitchen.
Arrows F1 had a few things to say also.

Run out of fuel TWICE (first time he failed to pit when instructed, second time threw it all in the FK-IT Bucket and went for it)
Passed the safety car under a yellow (they where never green, Jamie)
Tries a daring pass that does not pay off.

Anyway on top of the Shell sponsorship the news that MacLachlan will be in # 17 was very welcome.
He definitely can. But Bathurst late in the day seems to trigger some retard mode in him.

Thought that same mode was selected for PI this year despite how much it was talked up. Still dont reckon he is a patch on Van Gisbergen in terms of race craft. Outright speed yes, just not door to door.

Or Roland is full of shit. Anyway what the below means is Whincup cant now win.
Supercars Australia welcomes the decision handed down by the CAMS appointed National Court of Appeal today on Triple Eight’s attempt to change its appeal in respect of last Sunday’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
Immediately following Sunday’s race, Triple Eight appealed the severity of the 15 second penalty handed to Car 88 as a result of Jamie Whincup’s failed pass on Car 33 of Scott McLaughlin.
On these grounds the appeal could only seek to downgrade the penalty from a grade two to a grade one which carries a 10 second penalty and could not have the incident re-investigated or the charge dropped.
Subsequently, Triple Eight applied to the Court to amend its appeal to instead claim that the failed pass was not a breach of the driving standards at all, despite numerous prior admissions by Triple Eight that the failed pass was a breach.
Triple Eight’s attempt to amend their appeal was today rejected by the Court. Triple Eight may still choose to appeal the severity of the 15 second penalty on Car 88 and, if so, they must do so by 5.55pm today.
Supercars Australia respects the right of all teams to appeal the decisions of stewards, however it also recognises the groundswell of opinion from teams, drivers and fans who have expressed a strong desire to see one of Australia's biggest sporting events decided on the racetrack and not in a courtroom.

Why? the 15 second penalty was bullshit and cost them the win
MrSparkle

Agreed.
They crossed the line first and the victory was taken away by that decision. I'm no expert but I don't think his mistake deserved that penalty.
It sucks for Davison but he didnt lead a lap so it should be no surprise he didnt win the race. It was a shitty way to win anyway.

If it wasn't at the end of the race, it would probably have been a stop go penalty but they couldn't implement it.
So a time penalty was awarded and should stand.
I agree that the 15 sec was excessive. But 10 sec was what was happening through the race anyway. So a downgrade to 10 sec is fair enough.
Sebdullah
18-10-2016, 01:37 PM
but 15 sec isn't excessive when a tour of pitlane is high 20 sec

No, because the 10 sec stop go only applies at the time of a scheduled pit stop.
as there was no more scheduled pit stops, it should have been just a 10 sec penalty.
My understanding is that they are only trying to get it down graded to 10 secs and not wiped away completely.
That was what they originally said, but this latest article says there basically applying to the FIA to get it removed completely.

lol.... cause apparently in an article not too long after Dane had rund and called davison and said that exact thing that their appeal wouldnt affect his race result they were just doing the best thing for jamie (even though he cant follow simple instructions from his team!)//
the vid on this link

sums it up pretty good in how the penalty was applied. there is no way the corner could have been taken if the other car wasn't there... hence .. redress fail whatever you want to call it..
I think in the future though they wont be applying post race penalties but then I think even F1 occasionally does it as well.
.
In F1 if you cannot serve a time penalty, they add it to your race time at the end.
If you cannot serve a drive through you get 25 seconds added.
You can't give him 10 seconds because he couldn't serve the 10 seconds in a pit stop. It should really be a 40 second time addition - pit lane travel time plus stop time.
15 seconds was a bargain!
MrSparkle

So.. Who was at fault?
Did Coulthard move over on Tander? Did Tander bump Coulthard?
Either way, Ryan Walkinshaw would be glad he's off'd Tander....
I have been watching racing at gold coast since indy 1995 - anyone with half a brain knows you move left to follow the curve of the road...
Beyond that, he turns on him once he touches. Fucking abhorrent.
Only reason he even got a run was because he was banging on the back of the car coming off the hairpin.
This is gold, especially after the move Scotty pulled on sunday at gold coast
