but then i'm also thinking that maybe once it hit, the truck would have taken a while to stop/pull over/whatever, so the skid marks and actual point of impact may be like 100m back down the road....

well, notice the truck is parked on the side of the road, in the emergency lane (USA so its on the other side) maybe he was overtaking there and pulled out at the wrong time.

i was thinking they might have been from the truck as it pulled over (presumably in a hurry) to see what the hell just made that big "thud" down the back...there looks to be more marks on the right-hand-front of the trailer as well...

Look closely at the drivers door of the Corvette... you can see an arm. Just to the left of the number plate thats hanging down off the truck.
