I have a feeling when I move to Onslow next week, their shit fuel stations only have 95, the FG is tuned to 98, given the heat I don't want to run it on 95 alone, will a decent Octane Booster be ok? I've seen it make PSark Plugs a reddy colour before, not sure what else it's doing internally.
Or just do the Jerry can run monthly to Karratha?
Or does the Falcon ECU detect knock and wind back timing etc
It's already on it's way up there, so no chance of a retune.

Have run for years in Carby engine with no effects that I can tell... Father has also used in some of his older fiats very regularly as living in country he came across same thing with 98 not available all the time... both of them are Fuel injected and don't think they have experienced issues from oct boost/

hope that helps. you could also run jerries of 98 through when you could as apparently it has quite a good storage life.

iv got a 2007bf and it does a good job of throwing timing back back when the fuel is shit. I use the nulon octane booster when im around areas that have less than adequate fuel then again Ill limit the jandel Input aswell

When first tuning the M5 with blower I was using 107 octane fuel. Things were fine but realistic.
Was still learning how the ionic sensors work as they are actuality built into the spark plugs.
Tune was OK as octane was there.
Moved to 98 and car on dyno showed signs of detonation and didn't really know how the sensors worked.
I put in NF Race octane booster 6 RON. (5ml per lt) and it went from detonation to no detonation on the dyno within 30 or so seconds of pouring it into the tank
So from a science point - it works Brett_J and comes in 300ml bottles. Octane is controlled by mixing ratio.

Read the above. It's how I came across it. They proved it works and the dyno results from my testing supports the above.

Ironically the shell fuel I use seems to be more stable with the Ionic sensors. I know everyone says it comes from the same place - but the DME in the car don't lie either.....and seems to be stable on Shell fuel.

youll hear it rattle when your on the jandle, if found 98 from shell to be the best fuel for my falcon. ill get a little ping then its all good. then again that's on a 30+ degree day

Cheers guys, it'll be limited in heavy foot applications, towns too small to get a bad name for myself, just don't want the pingpingpingping melting a piston. Will probably sell regardless as it's wasted up there.

You need to have a chat with your tuner and find out if they have modded the knock retard tables. If they have the car may not be able to pull enough timing to stop a knock event.

If you can hear it knocking it's way past the point where damage will be happening.

Otherwise look into a water/meth injection system.

Just had a chat with Rob, he's going to remotely pull some timing out of it for me when I get up to the car.

Bunnings or a Paint Supplier?

Bunnings stock the Diggers brand - and it's just a thinner after all :)

Used to buy it off Shell in 20lt drums. No idea if you still can.

Large quantities of Toulene would get you onto ASIO's watch list these days wouldn't it?

I have heard it's effects are pretty explosive and will make any old bomb perform like jihad a decent tune up.

Also used in Psuedobake...
No Bunnings I've been to have had it off the shelf though. Would rather get it as fresh as possible too, so a Fuel place would probably be best.

Last time I got it from a mate years ago, you needed race car license and logbook etc.

the last 180 i bought i put some octane booster in the tank....
i cant think how much, i think i shoved one whole bottle in a full tank....then used about half that tank before the engine came out (it was a dying shitter)...

defo makes everything orange.
my mecanic said its not harmfull.

but i think your already on the money, get the old girl more appropriately tuned for the fuel that's avalible in Onslow.
chances are you not going to have any opportunity to really open her up and have fun, unless your out of town / doing the highway runs.
the highway there is pretty boring, but the road to paraburdoo is nice and straight in sections - setup your own 1/4 ;P
