View Full Version : Kebab's & Cars

I had an idea and now we have Racewars. JME had an idea and now we're about to get a new static car culture meet by the name of Kebab's & Car's.

https://z-m-scontent.fjnb2-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/s960x960/16179749_1385474461492487_7531849073298881912_o.jp g?_nc_eui2=v1%3AAeEtN7Tn1f46ilh3whVLbRX9L4-mgWdRYftSYpCaI4WlWrf0HluaB0PJ3RtmJCl-vUIjGSYBlgk6XyZJdfacPkChZaprc7lmN11oCvDEDmQvpjDWIC N8lZA3EZQYZ_G4sb8&_nc_ad=z-m&oh=2c82b66494d5e5293782bf31ed2c714c&oe=59149F91

It's no secret that what we've all seen from Fitted Friday in Sydney has been immensely impressive. So now JME will be leading the team to make our own event with that West Coast vibe unique to our scene.

If you've not heard of Fitted Friday check this video out here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAfPtbkP7xM

More from the main man later but for now keep the evening of Feb 25th free.

*edit* got it wrong.

It does look a lot like a Forza Horizon festival meet though from that video

azzada1

They may have been playing abit of FH3 before the editing.
Looks promising though, Like a Cars and coffee with kebabs..

WAPOL will most likely not like this

Buckets
22-01-2017, 03:23 PM
Oddly enough WAPOL tend to be constructive and supportive if you work with them in a professional and polite manner. Sure they can come in and fuck the whole thing up if they wish HOWEVER if you are seen to make an effort in their eyes to do the right thing and aren't causing dramas most of the time they'd rather not bother bothering you.

Just as there's always a dickhead who'll act up at these meets there will always be a cop who'll have zero tolerance. The idea is to not be that clown and in the process avoid that cop.

And yep, C&C but at night with Kebab's because Kebabs & HSP's are fucking deluxe. If the initial event has a good vibe it can grow to something of the caliber Fitted Friday is however the Feb 25th shindig will be low key & casual as we get a feel for what kind of support there is for such an event. So please make a plan to come down, have a wander around, smash a kebab or two, then see whatever happens after.

Kebab van's bro. It's being held at Shannon's new HQ in Cannington - Nice 400 car bays in the complex so there's plenty of room for a good number of attendees.

Yep, bikes, trucks, hot rods, exotics, stanced imports, race cars, muscle cars....

Whatever. Bring it and come on down. This isn't a motorsport event so there's no barriers to come along and get involved.

Why isn't old faithful van supplying food at meet location? Win win there!

Will it always be at shannons? Would be cool if these were aligned with those "streats" things that are on around the suburbs, I know the south Perth and deep water point locations have plenty of parking

Buckets

This is a proof of concept. If the vibe is right and people show some interest there is scope to escallate and expand.

Baby steps and hopefully no misteps. Took Custom Coffee & Cars a long time to get their event properly sorted after it left Freo.

Thanks Jon for the intro.

As Jon has already alluded to this is a concept which will most likely be prevalent in the warmer months of the year. There's potential for some penis trophy spec awards for vehicles to add a competitive edge and help nuture an element of show culture from all denominations. It requires support to help get off the ground.

Sounds good, with the likes of Custom Cars and Coffee and the Saturday Night Fever events down at FWY Maccas proving there is definitely a high calibre of cars out there and seems people are interested in coming along to short few hour events to show them off.

If crew wanted to trailer cars from down south, is there room to park up, unload and participate? - saves yellows, or reds?

Yes. There's over 400 parking bays so enough room for that.

It's just an intuitive guess on my behalf - but I'm punting that the main "carpark" will be the green box because that's easily the biggest parking area but I'm not sure because Dan Murphy's may get a bit annoyed.
I'd park in the yellow boxes or across the road from it and make a quick squirt across / up William Street because you'll need back to back bays for the length.

So we've been quietly chipping away at getting some content for the first meet. Social interaction is the key to getting exposure for the event and aiding us in making this a permanent fixture. We need your help guys, share the page and its content as much as you can. Tell your local car communities to get on board!

AutoGlym has stepped up and will be providing sponsorship and giveaways
Autopro has something in the bag
The Motul Racewars crew will be there with some merchandise offerings.
San Churro Northbridge/Vic Park will have some offerings as well as revealing a very very cool car on the night (all going well)
Marc Ash from Our Car Scene will be down to document the meet and provide a video for all to enjoy post event
We have a very talented young lady joining us for some photography opportunities with vehicles and their owners
A free Kebabs and Cars sticker for every attendee (while stocks last)
Excitingly for all, Autoglym is on the search for a vehicle or two to become an Autoglym Ambassador in WA. Details are still being finalised but this is a just another step in providing some exposure for a well executed ride. A roll of honour is being setup out the front of the Shannons office to get the ball rolling.
Thanks to B&C Vintage Products and Deluxe Detailing, we have a trophy for each Kebabs and Cars category. Function - Form - Steel - Plastic.
Also the lads from Beat The Heat will be joining us to help bridge the gap between law enforcement and legitimate enthusiasts.

Will keep updating as more comes to hand.

It's also worth noting that Racewars is sanctioning this as an official pre RW17 promotional event as such it is possible for B-Registered cars to make the trip down under the provisions of their registration.

I'm looking forward to getting the FD out for the evening. So bring the B Rego brigade out for a night as well!

Great success.

Good points:

Huge turnout
Huge variety of cars
Great atmosphere
Everyone well behaved

Suggestions for next one:

More food vans haha
Better lighting in some areas if possible? Especially the entry strip where the food van was, was pretty dark around there.

For the first event I think it went really well and will probably mean the next event will be even bigger through word of mouth.

Well done to the organizers.

Yeah was a good chilled vibe. For a proving concept it was a success, but as noted above food queue was an issue and the lighting. But overall, much bigger turnout than expected for the 1st run. More importantly.........Did you get your entrant stickers?

Yes.
Tom is a good bloke and Jess a top chick too. Jess - perhaps did or did not require to go home to get them. I'm not making comments of individuals but collectively as a business. Volunteers or not. Profit or loss is not an entrant consideration. RW is registered as a company and as such my expectations are product delivery as advertised. This includes Big Rock as a partner to honor their commitment as a customer of Big Rock as they are happy to swipe the eftops pretty quick.

How RW deliver a product is a management issue. Regardless of management or staffing structure.
6pm. No stickers. 6.30 pm no stickers. 7pm no stickers. What time was it advertised to be open and trading? I'm sure I read 6 pm.

I understand the volunteering thing and all. But.... if a company is to advertise a product it should deliver all aspects of the advertisement.
I understand everyone is mates etc. But it doesn't excuse delivering a product.

Call it self entitlement, selfish, grammar, rude or what ever. I'm sure there are plenty who are concerned of getting their stickers from somewhere.

Sure you can travel half of Perth to get them but most people I know plan their time whether it be with family or friends. Timings are timings.

Plenty of people shared their concerns with me last night about stickers but timid to rock the boat.

If we talk about volunteering for RW I know nothing about it. Unless of course as as a VIP in previous years I was loading trucks and unloading trucks, smashing in pickets into rock for a fence line, digging trenches for cables etc. etc...in a dusty fly saturated environment for pre and post RW event.

I've done it every year and will do so again this year and if not satisfied with product delivery I'll let RW know again in 2018.

RW is great and I will continue to support the event.

What a night, huge turnout and so many great cars. Massive props to Jamie and Tim, they did all the hard work putting together the night.

On the food vans - as a bit of background, they require a minimum spend, where if they don't make X dollars in sales over the night (generally $800-1000), the organizer pays the gap. We didn't want to go crazy on the first night and then be left with a bill that we'd have to personally pay. We'll definitely have more at the next one seeing the turnout we had on Saturday.

We'll share any photo/video albums we see as we find them, otherwise tag the page in or use #kebabsandcars

Haven't had an excuse to drive car since RW, so this is looking like a thing. So I'll bring the plastic then; will let others bring the steel, form, function, kebabs etc.

Yep, this Saturday evening. The arrival roll in seems to be a spectacle in itself.

We have a few things up our sleeve. The Shannons Showroom will have 3 feature cars and a feature bike. The WA Autoglym chapter is launching the Autoglym Ambassador program which is running in conjunction with ourselves and Custom Cars and Coffee. This has stemmed from a few months of work between ourselves and Autoglym and we're very proud to introduce it to West Coast Car Culture. Georges Kebabs are back, they have snack packs and more staff! The Cream Kombi will be on hand to deliver coffee, tea and milkshakes. The Last of the Racewars merchandise will be onsale as well as some tidbit merchandise bits and pieces from Kebabs and Cars. There's more lighting in the main arena, and if (a big if) all goes well in testing, we'll be televising the F1 qualifying on a screen as well.

Should work out to be an OK night :-)
