Been a bit slow to get into the VR purely due to costs and unsure if pc was good enough, anyone else got one set up?

just got the Dell Visor which is a Windows Mixed reality headset, its called mixed reality because it doesnt do anything thats mixed reality its a virtual reality headset.
theres a few out at the moment in this category I think from HP, lenovo etc all basically the same thing underneath apart from samsungs version which is probably slightly better in every way.

twice the resolution as vive or rift (although on oleds im pretty sure or lcd, whichever the shitty one is),
you dont need the room sensors and it still tracks you and lets you walk around etc
if you currently have a cockpit with a wheel... fucking forget about it. your life is over. Project cars 2 in VR is the best thing to happen to computer gaming ever.. you lose some graphics theres no doubt about it but the experience is fucking ridiculous.

also if you happen to have been to a place just North of the river and dropped coin for the experience please dont let that put you off. it really can be good.

been playing Pcars2,
corsa
GTA 5 (there are no words to describe online play after a joint)

havnt been playing:
paranormal activity.. what a fucking joke. outside of showing it to people theres not a fucking chance you would catch me playing this by myself. Dad has a heart conditon and i decided against showing him it.. if you have a missus obviously this ones a must.

I'm keen as fuck (have done a session at Optimus Gaming) but I keep blowing thousands of bucks a year on my fucking car, my racewars prep end entry could have paid for a bloody top tier PC and probably a headset too, fuck it. Must have spent ten grand in the last two years or so on the pingpingpingping and that's ignoring petrol, insurance and rego. WTF

PCs were a much cheaper hobby, should have stuck with that.

VR racing or flight/space sims would be jizz worthy!

Yeh that's what put me off getting into it for so long but I've been pretty happy so far, my motherboard / CPU are like 2010 haha

I5 2500k @ 4.5ghz
980gtx

At that stage now where the CPU is probably gonna bottleneck any sort of graphics card update.

I've had a Vive for the last Year and a bit, used to use it all the time but the content is still quite thin.
There are heaps of very very cool things to experience and I really wish i could go back and do some of them again for the first time.

Favourites over the year are; (no particular order)

Fallout 4 VR (needs mods to be good though)
Accounting
Audiosheild
Batman Arkham
Budget Cuts
Google Earth VR (Fucking Amazing!)
The Lab
Richie's Plank Experience (Say good bye to your stomach!)
theBlu
Arizona Sunshine
Elite: Dangerous
FORM
Obduction (Loved this!)
Portal Stories VR
Project CARS (Fiddly to setup, but with a racing sim - zomg)
SUPERHOT VR
The Talos Prinicple VR

IMO the Vive is the best VR technology overall, the tracking is amazing, HMD is good, SteamVR works really well. There will be a newer, higher resolution HMD released soon that will plug & play with the current Vive setup. There are also prototype "kunckle" hand controllers that have individual finger position sensing coming... (Valve Time™)

Niva, have you run the SteamVR Benchmark on your system? it should be VR ready with those specs.

When i first got the Vive I started with a 2700k & TITAN X (Maxwell) which pissed on almost everything i threw at it, a 2500k & 980GTX should run almost everything pretty well.

Yeh it does, when the games actually run.

Can't get robo recall or L.A noir to run.

Biggest help I've found for a super smooth image has been Always-on Reprojection this and asynchronous Reprojection completey changed the game.

Have you tried the echo something? Game.. looks fkn amazing

Currently hammering dirt rally. I stuggled big time before not clipping the snow banks at the edge of the road etc but now I'm basically Colin McRae
