View Full Version : My First Car Crash

I've had my license for 5 weeks as of this week...

Stupid me had 2 pints at the pub and drunk drove.. I understand that 2 pints isnt much but its still drink driving.. i take the blame!

We were at the paddo in mt hawthorn.. followed my cousin out of a street and proceeded to follow her as we were headin to her house 2 mins away. I knew i shouldnt be driving but it was the only way home i did. She turned down a street i didnt know of and as i followed (not up her arse pretty far behind her) she did a u-turn with no indication.. I slammed on my brakes and went up the side of her.. MY BAD!! It gets worse.. she was cool with it no cops called at all as she has no license.. we get to hers and her sister and i went nuts at eachother.. ended up in a punch up (i only swung silly me hehe.) I was left in a dodgey suburb to do what i could and had a few good mates pick me up.. They then saw the damage to my car and to hers.. hers is "written off" and mine needs a new head light..

I feel extremely bad about this.. all of us were drink driving so no sympathy there. Im more pissed that she didnt indicate which resulted in this accident!

The end! feel free to abuse me.. i deserve it! :dizzy:

Not a dig at holly but how does driver training have anything to do with pissy driving and driving with no licence?

Mz Hollz
16-02-2006, 12:06 AM
i agree gav, ill never do it again but my cousins been driving around for about 4-5 months with no license because of drink driving! so uh yeah i learned from the best of them yea

Holly all Ill say is I hope you learned from your mistake and never ever drink and drive again !! Its really not worth the risk. But saying that its good to see you can admit you are in the wrong and wont do it again.

Your friends an idiot for driving without a license too.

Do you guys realise that neither of you had any form of insurance and had either of you hit somebody else your life could have turned to **** in an instant. Its best to think of the consequences before the incident not after.

One night I drove home from a mates place in Belmont (half hour drive, before I had my skyline) & going down the freeway it felt to me as if I was doing 100 (or maybe more). Then I looked at the speedo & I was doing 80. I only had a few & was fine to drive, but it does affect you.

As you say Holly you said you weren't following close, but then you still managed to not even see her turn, and that shows you couldn't react at all until it was too late. But one thing about what you've told us, you say your friends house is only 2 mins away, but driving was your only way home?? That's like a 10 minute walk, sure if it's just a few ladies walking then that's a quick taxi trip.

Just be glad no-one got hurt, learn from it & I hope all goes well for you.

This is going to move me over to the seriously uncool but..... if you're going to drink drive just hand your lic in now before you kill somebody.

Your right, you are an idiot but everyone makes mistakes. Its whether you learn from them or not that will decide just how much of an idiot you turn out to be... Do P platers have the zero tolerance limit when it comes to DD or is it 0.02 or something?

Its hard to determine wether you would be over your limit but its my opinion that i'd wait at least a couple of hours before i'd drive anywhere after a couple of drinks.. OR drink a huge amount more, get sloshed and find another way home :D

I HATE DD and believe drink drivers should lose their license for a minimum of 6mnths. 3rd time they should lose their license for life. I was recently in a courtroom and there was a lady who'd been caught 4 or 5 times for DD. Last time with her kids in the car. She got 3mnths.......

Regardless of DD or not, in time you will learn that MANY people dont indicate at all. They ignore stop signs, give way, traffic lights, school zones etc etc etc etc. Anticipating what other drivers on the road are doing has saved me countless number of times. Always expect the people around you to do the wrong thing.

insurance will have a nice giggle at that one.....

if they pay out, then they are stoopid....

she was pissy and so were you. u need to file a police report first.

McKVNT

No if you don't have a licence you wont be covered because you aren't supposed to be driving.. period...

plus neither will compulsory third party... for the fact she has no licence..

And mayhem your right dude..

Dude the fact that i didnt try to deny any of it and the fact that i realise what ive done is enough. I realise what I could have done because ive been in a car crash before and nearly been killed by a drink driver. The fact that majority of these dudes are my mates is another reason they arent being too harsh!

DD is a serious offence and im glad it wasnt as serious as it could have been.

anyway...

Her car isnt worth much thats why we are saying that insurance will prolly laugh it off as a write off.. I just spoke to her, she wants the car fixed today :dizzy:

So like has been said, no police report, no insurance. They realise other driver had no license, so as she shouldnt of been driving so technically she may be at fault?? - could get nasty, but if you have your license for 5 weeks and are already D/D what do you expect.

Mz Hollz
16-02-2006, 08:04 AM
haha nar its kinda good, shes not asking for me to pay for ****, we are both gunna pay for our own cars. The problem is she wants it fixed today as shes ment to be going away tomorrow to visit her parents. im not sure if i should take today off work to sort it out or not

maybe she'll learn not to drink drive.. same with you...

hahaha drink driving while the plastic is still warm on your licence holly :squint: .... those were the days ... young and fearless we all did it once in our p plater days ... but as tj said next time it could be a kid ... what the kid is doing crossing the street that late at night is besides the point :)

what ever you do dont get insureance involed cos then cops may get involved and correct me if im wrong but having an accident on your p's is automatic loss of licence and you have to re sit you test

16-02-2006, 09:27 AM

Actually Im proud to be able to honestly say i have never driven while even mildly under the influence.

And yeh dont go through insurance because you with both have to lie and lying to an insurance company is fraud and if you get caught out youre screwed.

And if your friend thinks this "written off" car is going to be fixed today shes dreaming !!!

adrenalin
16-02-2006, 09:38 AM
As said you need a police report and you have to file the other cars name. Depending who the car is registered to and bla bla bla you would then have to state it was driven by another driver who then could get into serious trouble for leaving a site of the accident and bla bla bla.

Dont use insurance and as said it will be a week or more depending on damage as to how long it takes to fix and get the parts + paint it etc ...

McKVNT
16-02-2006, 09:49 AM
Insurance is a definite no no.. for one your friend, regardless of whether she has insurance or not is not going to be covered because of the no license situation and if you claim then your going to get her in trouble for having no license and driving, and possibly lose your license for being at fault..

Privately is pretty much your only/safest option...

ben351

Its just the internet. What would be the point?
But if you must, then so be it :)

You are Promoting drink driving, breaking the law ..... This is not the attitude any driver should have in general.. let alone on a performace car club website

Laws are there to protect you and others. I aint saying i have never broken one and i bet not one person on this forum can say they have either but dont go all out cocky about how you are a ****head and encourage younger drivers to do it.

yes, that is one-less drink driver on the road... Just because there are millions doesnt make it right, doesnt mean you can't kill yourself or someone else. YOUR LIFE might not mean anything to you BUT im sure there are heaps of people that love their live and wouldnt like to be killed by someone who is DD

i promise you everyone here has broken the law! speeding especially but there is no way that you promote drink driving! Ive been in a crash with an extremely drunk driver and that should have stopped me last night! Doofus dude 7 years with your license so ud at least be 25ish.. grow the **** up

Jaided
16-02-2006, 11:53 AM
But to DD after 2 years of license, whats the big deal? If you're sensible and know you're own route, then you're fine.

Dear god.

If I knew where you lived.. Id happily come slash your tyres every Friday/Sat/Sun night

what a clown.

Sorry to hear bout ur accident hollz... i think DD is utterly retarded.. but at least , like others said, u have admitted it and wont do it again (best not be wild claims chicken haha). Next time fone ur man and whinge to him to go get a friend and come get u and ur car (works every time lol)

Let me say firstly I'm glad that your ok and that no one was hurt.

BUT I'm disappointed that anyone would even post something like this! I'm sure Holly is aware of how stupid her actions were, getting into a car after a few too many drinks, but even more stupid is to post something like this and not expect nasty comments about your actions.

My 2nd cousin was killed but a drink driver. Hit and run. Your EXTREMELY lucky that all you did was inconvenience someone else by ruining their vehicle.

I'm started to sound like a mum but seriously, I think drink driving is disgusting behaviour.

I dont see any childish ****, i see people angry at a pathetic attitude.

Your not saying you agree with it?

Mz Hollz

i expected loads of angry comments! i wouldnt have posted it up otherwise.. plus in the car scene, something happens and the story goes around, story gets changed.. next thing you know i was absolutly smashed and hit a pole then into a tree and then a kid, id rather people hear the truth straight away than have the story twisted

Its a good thread to discourage others who are thinking of doing it and plus i think holly has learned her lesson. Its a pity this thread hasnt opened your eyes up.

You are just an ignorant prick who thinks like most "p" platers they are invincible. I hope someone knows your plates and can put them into the cops so they follow you one night and take your licence off you.

Yeah I do

How dare I be angry at this?

Idiot, if you for one second think this is dedicated to some desire to abuse people, your way off the mark.

I know someone on here who has lost a loved one to DD, i know thier pain. For someone to simply brush it aside is pathetic, and to glorify it is even worse.

for now im closing this, if anyone feels it needs to be reopened, pm me with a valid reason.
